Player groups

Which are the big ones? What do they do? I heard about all these people being invited to Fd towers - Obsidian Ant was the only person I'd heard of.

Maybe joining one of these can give me some incentive to play again. Mods: please don't shove this into the sub forum, no one ever posts in there and it won't do any harm for other people to find a group either. Not interested in möbius.

Different groups do different things. Some cruise around murdering every one they encounter. Some bring fuel to stranded commanders. Some sing sea chantries off-Key while drinking rum mixed with salt water. There are no hard and fast rules.

You’ll have to investigate them yourself and find out what they’re about.

To help the OP though... Obsidian Ant and the others that were invited to FDev are a mix of streamers, people who make content for youtbue and some representatives of the largest player groups. Ant himself is not a leader of a player group.

As has been said earlier Inara is a great place to start though some writeups there can be old.

My recommendation would be to pick one of the largest - for me it was Prismatic Imperium and I then got invited to their discord server and in chatting to others there i found similar groups more suited to me. Word of mouth is best.

It looks like the Squadron mechanics will help people in the future, you will be able to browse all "groups" and see population, language and allegiance, which may help you choose.

Hopefully, it adds a better way for players to communicate in game.

I am intrigued by the leaderboard and Gold/Silver/Bronze awards shown in the Squadron section of the teaser trailer, maybe p[layers can do things to buff squadron status?

Dangerous Groups subforum is a good place to start. The active groups will be on the first page, mostly. And the first post will tell you what the group is about.
