Player Hotspots = Cheating, Ganking, Griefing

Greetings Commanders,

For some time now I have been playing the Community Goal in the Upanikli system with the bounties in Open World. Sure, that's a player hotspot at the moment and I have nothing against a fair fight.

But what's going on there, you can only shake your head. Constantly being pulled out of supercruise and very often I wonder if my two grade5 beam lasers in a Class A Krait MKII were exchanged for a normal flashlight.

My Weapons take no effect on the shields of a Viper or Cobra (no shield tank like Cutter or corvette). 15 seconds of direct hit does not change even the color of the outer shield ring . Meanwhile my shields melt, like snow in the sun.
Cheaters use OS Linux as base, what FD can't find as cheat. these ships become indestructible shields and a Viper gets the firepower of a Corvette and more.

Where is the honor left? Can you really be proud, if you win a fight only through cowardly cheating.
In solo, these guys can do whatever they want, but in the Open it destroys the whole game concept.

FD should really do more to prevent this. I'm trying to report every Cmdr who is cheating, but since I play in VR with Voice Attack it's hard to use the keyboard.

Do you have ideas what to do against cheaters on Linux or Window?
I think on PS4 and Xbox u can't cheat.

Yes, it is possible to start ED under Linux

I guess FD has Tools to find cheaters under OS Windows, PS4 and Xbox. Linux is open source and so in think there are more ways to manipulate than in windows.
So it is also much harder for FD to find them. I'm sure they want ;-)
I have nothing against Linux or Linux User. It's open source and this is good in a world where multi billion $ Companies control most OS.
I wanted to say only that a cheater who is clever, uses Linux for that.

Can you explain in detail? Since Linux is open source while ED is not, it's two differnet things: getting ED to run on Linux using various Windows emulation layers and otoh manipulating the same ED (closed source) code in this environment.
Do you think FD lacks the tools to detect cheating in Linux, because these tools don't run there? When ED runs emulated why can't these tools?

Whilst it is possible cheating is afoot - I know hacks do exist - a heavily engineered ship by someone who knows all the tricks can look almost invincible against a normal ship. Also you have to consider networking issues. I know some players who are very honest who have been accused of cheating and yet I would trust them completely when they say they are not.
Welcome to pc gaming however where at the back of your mind you may always wonder if you are playing with cheaters (if you play competitively). Definitely advantage console there imo - although consoles are not immune either

The very best pilots in the galaxy, on BOTH sides, are at the CG, prepare for the hardest fights you'll ever have against ridiculous odds, or play in solo/PG. I'm not instructing you how to play your game, just stating the undeniable truth. We (the good guys) fly out in wings of 6 to 10 and still find ourselves frequently outnumbered. There is very little actual 'cheating' going on, but I have no doubt that a lot of the bad guys are using premium ammo (which probably accounts for your shields melting like an ice cream in hell), and are well versed in preventing your escape (FSD reset, scramble, disruptors). We will continue to try to keep them busy, but accusing people of cheating without solid evidence only does damage to the game. The difference between a top pvper and a regular pve'er is larger than you probably imagine.

If anyone wants training in pvp (and even just in surviving a gank, or a demonstration of how effective the best theorycrafted ships actually are), I'm happy to help, just dm me. o7

They cant tell. Its my beleif that there is absolutly no cheat protection in this game and unless somebody gets caught in the act by being directly observed by frontier then nothing will ever be done.

That bit about linux i dunno about that but it is the home made cheats that never get caught. If you download something, FD can do that aswell and look at it. Home made stuff stays undetected much longer.

The PvP will tell you as always, that you learn ... I just hope that Frontier does not fall into the trap of Eliminating Solo and Group because then it will be the end of Elite Dangerous, since it has been shown that 90% of PvP games have a maximum half-life of 5 years then other attractions come out and set it aside.

My Frag Krait can melt any NPC's shields in two passes. It's not cheating, just very very powerful.
Meanwhile, my shields can tank pretty much everything in PvE, and can hold out in PvP for a long time.

In PvP, I can hold my own, but I'm actually pretty crap, but if I were to stoop to killing PvE players, I'd have no problems taking you all out. Lol

If you need build advise, just ask.
