Player markers - enemy, friend etc.

I think this will be great idea if we can mark other player with selected markers. For example someone killed us so we add him marker "enemy" and whenever meet him he will be always red for us? In the same way we can create marker "friend" etc. What do you think about that? This solution should be great for player groups because in that way groups can create their own Crime and Punishment system.

For example one member of group was killed by someone called "CMDR Bad Griefer", then whole group marked him as enemy (or if Frontier group owner can mark someone as enemy for every group member). Thanks to that, player group can enforce law in Open without bounties.

I think this is really simple solution and should improve Open Mode experience for many players.

Any system where ships can appear randomly marked as enemies is not gonna happen.

Also, it's not crime/punishment if you just want a way to indicate people that could harm you to allow easy fleeing. May as well go the full hog and play with your ethernet cable between your teeth.

This not a 100% solution for PVE players but this is still something which should be added. It is simple: If your and your friends mark someone as enemy, all of you could act against him as enemy. This is quality of life improvement.

Imagine that: Someone killed you and you meet him after few weeks again. You do not remember that he killed you. This time he asked you for help, for example some Painite donation, you agreed. With marking system you will remember that he killed you sometime ago.

It's yet another "This is how I would feel safer against grieforz without actually resolving anything" thread.

Wait until FD deal with crime/punshiment the proper way. If your player group cannot co-ordinate against targets that's not a gameplay fault and the marker system could never, ever extend to notifying anyone other than you and a group. Provided we have no long-term "group" or "faction" mechanics at present, it could only apply....to you. Which renders the whole affair as realistically no more than a memory aid with the potential to confuse the daylights out of you when a red contact appears on top of you at a station.

I am Open and PVP players and I do not have problem with dying and killing ;D. I came with that suggestion because similar solution worked great in EVE Online. It was helpful. It wont solve the problem with PVP vs PVE but it will give players really good tool to manage their relations with other player. At some point Elite should have that kind of mechanics...

Ever, ever trying to suggest EVE mechanics on the FD forum will be regarded as ignorant at best, trolling at worst.

The games are in space but that is about as far as it goes in similarity. Player interaction mechanics are miles apart.

Your narrowed shallow opinions abou comparisons between EVE and Elite make me laughing. Even now, there are functionalities in Elite which work in similar way. EVE is good example of space based game and some mechanics could be very useful also in Elite.
You can not disagree with all suggestions which are mentioning EVE.

Still I think that possibility to marking other players would be great addition. I wont agree with you, you want agree with me so we can stop this pointless discussion and just wait for other players opinions.

*chuckles* if you say so mate, there have definitely been less kind words towards those making suggestions from EVE, which may I remind you is similar to ED in that...it's set in space.

Marking players will never make it outside of personal indication. Otherwise...your faction is next to mine and I don't like you? Have my entire faction mark you as gankorz, watch you be shunned and hunted. Good times!

But your clear lack of understanding that there are no real player group/faction mechanics present anyway are frankly embarrassing (would hazard a wild guess that you've got EVE on the mind, and if you didn't hear they're different games).

Continue :)
