Player / Player Faction owned outposts

If FD really wants to tackle one of the biggest downside of the game, ie. depth of the gameplay that really adds to each player and make the feel of blazing their own trail, we should have the choice of making our own or at least the player faction, that we can really play in ( pledge and support, have a feeling that it is "ours" ) I cannot imagine better option than be able to build own outpost somewhere in the galaxy, there is enough "space" :) for everyone...

It should definitely not be easy task, you should build it from scratch, haul massive amount of cargo and building equipment and so on and take time to make it happen, but doable.
Also your friends or faction members can contribute to this, like a private community goal.

This is the most desirable goal in my wish list. I know that many others have asked for this, but hopefully FD ( Sandy, are you there ? :) ) will notice and have some discussion when can this be "reality", perhaps season 3 ?

Hi, a good first step should be, like FD talk about many years back, to let us have a sort of housing, personal dock in asteroid or elsewhere. Without talking about pvp and building outpost and attack/ defend, it could be a great money sink (running cost/ upgrading) for lone wolf or players groups... But i totally agree with you. For me, ED lake of real players bases. Imagine an runing by players outpost/ station is my greatest wish in ED.
 
The outpost / station would be small in the beginning and you could upgrade it so there would be a lot of things you could work on and like you said, great money sink ( and time sink as well ).

Like you said, it could be "personal dock" in the beginning and you could work from there.
 
Yep.

I support this. There is no good money sink and private group community projects. This could be one.
If you are lone pilot on your own, then place is small and small upgrades. When you grow, you ship slot´s,, maybe influence upgrade module need upgrade.

This type of game mechanics should not be problem for Frontier liek game house,,,it should be challenge for game dev´s.
Offcourse place need constant care or you are out of power and service :)
 
There isn't enough deepness in the game play, so I really support this. Even tiny space with possibility to upgrade it would be more than welcome.

It sounds like a good idea on paper, but head on over to Star Trek Online and either create your own fleet base or join a low level one at the present time. When they were first introduced the building requirements were all right, even adequate for the single player to smaller groups. But over the years and a million little Napoleons trying to create their own base, the developers really ramped up the costs on building fleet bases so that any serious base build would need 100 (or more) dedicated players to get the base completely built. Now it's considered a grind of mind-imploding proportions.

I fear that this approach will be causing more issues in the long run than how it's currently being performed in this game.

I would love pop up bases for exploring big systems or system areas. With fuel, repair, restock, and module storage.

I would love to have Commodity storage for engineers.
 
Possibility to have our own structures is good. But there are so big risks here so it's not just enough to intrude such a content into game. This must be planned badly.
1) Ask yourselves - why you need this structures? What purposes newly introducted structures will be for? Introduction structures itself will not makes gameplay deeper if they will be for nothing.
2) There must be finely tuned mechanism for the problem of trashing the universe by structures created by players who not log in. And it mustn't be just created fuel requirements. New structures must be independent and self-maintained. But it should undergo inner distruction due wear-out. And it's important that such a process will be very slow so at least one per 6 months visiting of it's owner will be enough to support structure's good condition.
3) There must be defense option. Super-strong shields for example. The structures must be sort of invulnerable.
4) So the purposes of structures existing and the benefits of it... This depends very from other parts of gameplay. But even as a place to be called 'home' - is not a bad purpose at all; but it must really be a home where you can create your own environment and add tools you need.

Yes, this kind of feature must be planned and implemented carefully, it takes some time and I am not hoping it will be done this year, but perhaps next... :)

There could be some maintenance fee, at least in the beginning before the station becomes big enough to maintain itself.

There could be many different options how to build, defense being one of course. Depending what do you want there to be, at least some refuel, repair, restock, storage options. When station becomes larger, then there could be Commodities market, mission board and other services that are in all stations.

I think this would not be too big task for development team to handle, but it certainly be interesting and desired feature for many Commanders. ( Sandy... )
 
Looks like Squadron and Carrier are "The Path" towards this goal, I was never expecting this to be a quick feature to be implemented. :)
