Player profile choice: builder or manager

Hello everyone,

There's many people that prefer to build up things in sandbox without much management and there's many people (like me), that prefer the management aspect. I think it could be great when we start the game that it asks for our preference: builder or manager and choose many gameplay options from this choice.

Many people suggests interesting things about management, but these options not will not interest everyone. So, in gameplay settings, many options could be toggle on/off. And if you choose builder, most of management options will be turn off, for manager, most options will be turn on. For example (and this is just examples to show my point):
- warehouse and manage stocks of foods/shops stalls: for builder, it would auto-manage stock, for manager, it would be manage manually
- staffs: for builder, the staff will be happy forever, for manager, you would have to build staff room, manage wages, etc.
- more realistic time section that could be many sub-options (for example: opening hours, maintenance & cleanup during the "closed times", etc.

I always like park tycoon game, but also always find it's more building tools with some minor management options and I never really have a feeling to manage a real-park. Everything is always good, everyone is always happy. I really hope Planet Coaster will be more interesting for manager. They make an amazing job for builder... [up]

Or the "builders" could mainly play with sandboxes and the "managers" could mainly play scenarios, which is how it's worked just fine for the past decade.

It was just a suggestion... I just thought of it because the management part is also present in sandbox, no? Furthermore, given options the possibility to toggle on/off could add more versatility to the gameplay each player wants.

If people dont like management, they usually play sandbox mode (like valdair said). I actually liked scenario mode in RCT1 a lot, but found scenario mode lacking in RCT3. I hope PC has a more robust scenario mode. Other than that, though? I see no point in having a bunch of toggle switches to simplify the game for some players.

I just thought of it because the management part is also present in sandbox, no?

Sandbox mode has unlimited money, so no there is not much need for management in sandbox. There is also the scenario EDITOR which has wayyyyy more settings and options than standard sandbox. Maybe that is what you are thinking of/looking for? I don't think scenario editor was very popular in RCT3 (well maybe a little) but I hope PC players make use of it more this time around [big grin]

The main problem for me in RCT3's scenario editor is that you spend three plus hours setting up a game before you ever start getting to play a game. Most of the pre-made scenarios were great for gameplay if you just ignored the campaigns which often times held back your gameplay options due to campaign achievements unlocking features of giving rewards.
PC looks like there are campaigns and then scenarios and then sandbox. I think they have figured out that some people want to win games while other people want to build and manage on their own and then still others just want to use the game as a platform to do whatever they want....which may not have anything to do with building or managing an amusement park.
