Player "X" Griefed me

How many times have we seen that thread?

Usually the pitchforks, Barrels of tar and bags of feathers come out. but have many people actually thought WHY did it happen?

Perhaps Player X got bumped a few times too many in the combat instance..perhaps Player X kept noticing a Green hollow triangle behind him firing into his back while Player X was chasing down a Enemy. Perhaps Player X, after going head to head with a Cobra in his Eagle then getting on its tail and dropping said Cobras' shields, perhaps Player X received a Half dozen shots into his back dropping his shields and a "Friendly" Bump that took his Hull from 100% to 31%.

Perhaps Player X decided a PC on his own team was a greater threat than all the red enemy on the screen. I have no intention of Griefing someone, don't care for it. but if I keep getting shot in the back and "Bumped" out by friendlies. them i'm going to re-classify them as enemy spies and open fire again.

wow... can not believe, that you could honestly defend the other guy there... he shot me in the back multiple times... he bumped me on numerous occasions..and yet... once again.... the anti PvP crowd sallies forth

wow.. I am actually speechless... for once.

I think people are just getting burned out a bit from these types of threads, its nothing personal or even valid on what you're trying to convey.

With regards to things like this happening, its an anarchy right now, so best to wait until we have all the systems in place before discussing it much, your current pilot is going to die the death of a wipe numerous times yet.

Think of it as openpvp and perhaps why they certainly have their followers, but from my experience and perspective more people people are against that style and will quit rather than overcome...

For as many times as someone gets "griefed" I believe there are many more times people don't, it's just nobody bothers to post...'Hey, just had a great time not getting PC killed!'

Just last night I was playing in the fed distress with four other commanders at one point and no-one "griefed" anyone else even when we ran out of enemies. Good times.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't believe the OP is complaining about a specific other player griefing. Player X would appear to be him and he seems to be saying that, after being on the receiving end of numerous blue-on-blue attacks, it's changed his view of supposed "Friendly" PC's who inhabit the same instance.

I think he's just saying that he will now be taking pre-emptive action if he thinks a player is too close and get his retalliation in first, but that His actions should not be construde as Griefing. Just a battle weary response to the prevailing circumstances he's found in our little fishbowl of Prem' Beta.

It's not something I'd subscribe to myself, but I understand the frustration.

If things do seem to be becoming a little DayZ ish, I reckon its more to do with everyone being squished into this tiny bubble of space with not enough to do. Sadly I'm hardly playing now as PB is pretty much the same as Alpha and I don't much care for some of the emergent behaviours where there isn't enough space (literally!) to escape from the madness.

That's not putting a downer on ED per say, I'm just really looking forward to full beta now, hopefully with more stars to explore.

The "OP" opened this thread 30 minutes after this thread was closed down:

after it descended into the usual entrenched views - even Togg - sorry Zalameal admitted the whole thread was a bait/troll thread.

Then we get this:

The OP must have been gutted when nobody was daft enough to take the bait. So he had to Necro the thread off page 2 or 3 early this morning and pray peeps were still half asleep to catch a few fish.

Hence the provocative necro

"Once again the anti-PvP crowd sallies forth"

Now have a look at the few replies he got before it died. Not one mentions PvP . So it's the age old Forum PVP tactic of create division where non exists. And again hope people are too sleepy to realise the aim of the thing. I mean it's not like he couldn't have picked a dozen threads just like it created over the last couple of weeks and continued the discussion there.

So I say again Troll thread, plus it's a gameplay issue - should be in the correct forum.

Spiggs was the only one to realize.... I was Commander "X" and yes I did finally get tired of being bumped.. shot.. and generally abused for my good nature. the rest of you clowns couldn't find your way out of a paper bag with a flashlight and a map.

Please refrain from name calling togg, its not very polite and it is against forum rules. Expect a moderator here soon...

Spiggs was the only one to comment that he realised, that does not mean the rest of us "clowns" failed to notice.

If you are upset about responses I suggest the Search function would be your friend as using it you will see all the previous posts on the subject of griefing.

If you can't see the Search button you'll find it next to the map in the brown paper bag. :p

Sorry, I'll stop clowning around now.

Havent really been attacked by a blue on blue, usually the other player leaves the instance and reenters it and swaps sides then blasts you, I suppose you could call it griefing if you were really bothered by it, but its more fun to just turn on them and blast them to smithereens :D

I think there should be a rule while this is a beta similar to other game testing environments

From a different games test server rules.
Combat by consent only, except in the designated combat systems

People could be out trying to test something and along comes someone who wants to PvP and destroys their ship. So they have just interfered with someones testing that could of found a bug.

Idea of beta's is to try and find issues/bugs to make the game better for everyone when its released.

A similar rule like 'Open PvP only allowed in Anarchy systems' would probably solve a lot of issues, if you don't want to PvP don't go in the anarchy system.

It would then allow people to test what they want without worrying about someone coming along and interrupting what they are trying to do.

With Regards to the OP it's pretty aggressively written so do you really expect sympathy or people to agree with it. I would suggest taking a deep breath before posting and re-reading what you've written. As others have said there have been multiple threads on this topic so yes people are probably a bit tired of them by now. Ultimately my advise is to calm down, it's only a game.
