Newcomer / Intro Players markers are never hollow

Seems like it's probably a rare bug - there's a few issues like this one https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/20234, but not many. I still think something about graphic drivers & updating them, but could by anything. Maybe Support will have an idea.
and I've been seeing them for 2 years?

So have I as they're common but as someone else has pointed out, this isn't the case atm
I haven't seen that in nearly 5 years of play and not heard of it before on the forum.
I'm not sure I've ever seen that "Hyperdrive Engaged" message in the first pic. 
Hmm i have seen the opposite quite often. Hollow NPC squares. Your issue is bizzare if thats your "normal".
A squadmate had a hollow npc earlier. first I'd heard of it 
Spent a a bit of time looking into this, I literally cannot find more than a few very old pages referring the problem, but no actual resolution or confirmation of a solution.
My go to dude for trouble shooting believes it might be a bad bit of data (as the issue is constant) that might be fixed by a reinstallation.
I've heard people in wings complain of this issue from time to time and I didn't really believe it.
I am very curious to the cause and solution (if found).

That might actually be an NPC, with a CMDR disguise. If it had a squadron association you could tell for sure, as NPCs are never associated with a squadron.I have encountered this issue in open exceedingly rarely. Perhaps a half dozen times since release but I did take a screen capture the last time I encountered out of equal parts documentation as well as amusement at the commanders name.
Reinstallation didn't help
