Newcomer / Intro Playing with a friend

Hey,

i own this game since beta and today i bought this game for a friend and we wanted to play together but somehow no matter where we are we never can see each other (arent in the same instance).
Is there a way to play easier together than just rejoining that much till we are in the same?

Others will weight in but if you friend your pal and then form a wing, you should be able to fly together.

All of this is done in your chat bar on the upper right in your cockpit screen.

I think you can only form a wing if you are in the same instance. Don't know if there is a surefire way to be in the same instance, but if you create a private group with your buddy, that should improve your chances. I at least had no issues seeing my friends from the private group since 1.2.

Have you friended him in game?
As I understand it that is the first step. I would also check the forum for wings. Private groups are a good idea but do not allow for open play but will include NPCS.

Grouping

It's a little cheeky but you know that he is in line? Has he accepted your friend and group request?

I would have him meet you in a system outside a station in the same status (open, group, solo). Make sure that you are both in the same status as this is one of the keys to success.

I am sure that it's something simple but the forum media makes it tough to trouble shoot.

Update: I just saw in the news that there are some fixes coming with wings and group invitations. Might be something that fixes your troubles.

Yes when i want to add him again it shows me he already is my friend... and no matter how much we try (connecting in the same time, jumping the same time, open world / private) it doesnt work :(

What a mystery. I would think that a ticket is in order as. Something is not right. I am not at my computer or else I would try to link up with you.

What star system are you in?

Normally you can join a wing and it doesn't matter about being in the same system. Something clearly isn't working properly. Can you send him messages through the in game chat? What happens when he sends you a wing request?

If he has just got the game does he know how to check for the invite and is he in open play? Just making sure he isn't in one of the training things or in solo.

No we cant send messages each other it says that it can make a connection to him. And no he cant send me an invite but i can send him an invite. And i guess he knows it because when we saw each other for a short period i managed to invite him into wing and he saw then my shields but i doesnt saw his shields... so yeah

Make sure the matchmaking server you connect to is the same as your friends. There's 2 or 3 of them, and you can see the IP on the main menu. If that's the same, you should be good. If not, you'll never see each other.

You can change the matchmaking server by closing and reopening the game.

Thanks for the Tip ill keep that in mind... but i still think it would be better if i could creat a wing before i joined the game
