Last night a buddy and I were roaming around looking for wanted targets to kill. I happened upon an Anaconda that was wanted, interdicted him, and my friend locked on to my wake in order to drop in behind me. Once he did, the fight was on. Problem was, after the Anaconda died my buddy told me he was still fighting him. At first I thought there were two Anaconda's, but there was only one as my friend was fighting the same named ship I was. I had already gotten the bounty, so I know he died. I sat there for about 3 minutes watching my buddy shoot into what looked to me like empty space, but from his screen he was shooting the same Anaconda I just blew up.
This was actually the second time this happened. The first time we were just in open play, communicating on TS, and dropped into a USS. After that we decided to play in a private group as we thought it would "sync" up everything. The Anaconda situation happened while we were in group play, so it happened both in regular open play and in private group play.
On the plus side, both of us received a pretty good bounty. On the bad side, the whole reason I interdicted the Anaconda was because there were going to be two of us attacking which increases our chances for success. This wasn't the case as was explained in the scenario above. I'm not sure if this was a bug, or if it was intended. But having the same ship appear separately for both of us defeats the purpose of working together to defeat a stronger target.
Any ideas on why this may be?
