I created a private group and my dad joined it and so we should be in the same game. We are both at Zhen Dock and cant see each other. We waited at the enterance. we even see ships leaving and entering at the same time.

You're not in the same instance then. I've never tried anything with the group system before so unfortunately I can't tell you a whole lot about WHY you're not in the same instance.

However, I would try having one of you wait and the other enter supercruise near the station and come back, and each time you do that I think it should have the chance to put you in the same instance.

The matchmaking in the current live build can be a bit hit and miss between certain setups...are you on each other friends lists? Can you send text comms to each other?

Next week the 1.2 update will go live and then you should be able to "force it" by starting a wing together. I've been playing around with the Beta the last couple of days and it's been working almost flawlessly for me. Hopefully this will sort out your issues. If you still have problems after you should collect the netlogs from each machine and report it as a bug so the devs have some data to go by.

Make sure you're both connected to the same server.

A fellow guild member constantly has the same problem. After many trouble shoot methods he finally got into the same instance. Now I believe each method is just rolling the dice but the last one that tripped it into grouping all of us up is he resetted his ports.

Not at all, but I wouldn't put it past my kid killing me for all those times I never let him win when he was very young. I'd let him think he'd win till the last minute Red alert, Tecken, to name a few
