General / Off-Topic Playstation Updates

Version 5.05 of Playstation OS is out, and like many before it, it says it "improves system performance." I'd love to know more details, like exactly what is being improved. Whatever it is, I've never really noticed any differences in the past, so these improvements must be minor at best.

Hey FDev, do you guys and gals get a more detailed report on these OS updates? I would think that all PS4 developers receive precise details about these updates, for example - "The networking stack latency has been reduced". I don't expect you to share, as I suspect you're under NDA (been there, done that), but I am curious how much of the under-the-hood you have access to as developers.

Anyone else have insights into these updates?

If Frontier has PlayStation updates sharing in the game programming industry to make money they will not tell you or me about them. They have learned from Forum experience trying to be nice guys/gals only to be flamed.

They don't seem to be of any real use that I can determine, only cause my console to crash if I playing ED at the same time as they download it. I can't do both simotaniously. Not bad if the update comes in the middle of my night, there's always a notice to run the update, which I do prior to playing ED.

As we recently had confirmed by apple - not all 'updates' are 'upgrades'. Not looking too good if you tell your customers your actually 'reducing' the quality of the product now does it! Planned obsolescence and all that....best just to keep tight lipped on all fronts.
