General Please add cross-platform support

A lot of games, and more added lately, have started allowing/adding cross-platform gaming. Fortnite, Dauntless, Smite, Paladins, Realm Royale, CODWarzone, CODMW, No Man's Sky, Rocket League, NFS Heat, World of Warships, Minecraft, already have cross-platform support.
It would help a lot of squadrons and individual players if we'd get cross-platform support. Not only would space be even more lively than it is now, but I'd be able to play with more of my squadron mates. And I'm sure a lot more people would like this as well.

I know it's not just a matter of putting it in, but please consider this for Odyssey.

Sony has already stated they are open to cross platform and already have it on numerous titles. At this point it is up to frontier

Oh, really? Am just going on a dev comment, but that might be old news. I think all parties are up for it, but it's not as simple as Frontier stating yes we are ready.

I'll see if I can find the dev comment.

Well Sony and Microsoft are open to cross-platform gaming. It still has to be a collaboration between Sony/Microsoft and Frontier to get it done.
Stuff has to be changed and added to the code, with Sony's and Microsoft's consent.
This basically.

Frontier might want to, Sony and Microsoft may allow it. However there's going to be some Ts&Cs attached which Frontier may well decide they can't work with.

I'll just leave this here.

The other space game said:
We are excited to be able to announce that, starting tomorrow, PlayStation 4 players, Xbox One players and PC players will all be able to explore, journey, survive, build, and trade together. Excitingly, No Man’s Sky is joining what is at the moment a fairly small group of games which support cross-platform multiplayer.

Are there currently still a lot of instancing/multi player issues?
Will cross platform play improve this or make it worse?

I'm all for cross platform, but, plenty of work to be done first.

There are other space games??!?!?!?!

Jk

I booted up nms earlier today just for the hell of it. I gotta say i thought it looked slightly better in VR than i remember it a few months ago. Flew around a while in creative to cheaply buy ships and try them out. I liked it more than my previous statements would suggest but its still no replacement for ED (no vr). Aside from looking around while im on foot in VR i much prefer out of ship in 2d. I suspect it could be because of aiming with the controller instead of traditional fsp style controls which i would prefer. The flying in VR was fun though.

I suspect the ability to customize my controls would let me like this game significantly more than i do

+1!!! It's bummer we have to play in silos.

The original post lists 12 games providing this feature so fingers can't be pointed at Microsoft and Sony. I'm clueless as to how difficult it would be to add / support this feature to a codebase that's been growing in complexity over many years ... but I doubt that it's above them.

Would be great if there was data out there proving that cross platform play brings value to the company to increase its priority.
