Please automate player faction creation, crafting Megaship or replace it with proper player group mechanics.

Right now there is only one possibility to create player group in game, it is by sending Frontier info about player faction. To be honest it is not even players group or guild, it is customized background element. Because of that I am asking you Frontier about possibility of introduction of proper grouping/guild/clan tool that will be handled by in game graphical interface and player not by your developers. Players should be able to form groups whenever they will. Of course that kind of groups should be something different to player faction.

Secondly, player groups should be able to build their own Megaship and control it via in game tools.
 
I had a notion. A player docks their ship into a "control" slot on the megaship and gains control.

This requires a more specific docking interface, though. But you would want that anyway, for a ship with limited bays, and possibly hangar and non-hangar dock points. I think having to use small (relative to the megaship anyway) ships for refueling would be interesting, you'd jump in 100-500ls from the star, and have to fly up and scoop.


For the other thing? People are terrible, if they were allowed to create factions with any sort of text, it could be abused. Then FD would have to police the descriptions a lot.

Still, allowing people to make factions and control them would be nice, just nameless things with no description. THEN they could send in the information and FD could check it for appropriateness, and put it live.
 
Well there is no need at all to allow players for faction control. There might be smaller kind of groups called for example Fleet or Mercenaries or something. This wont influence BGS but it self however it will be fully controlled player group.
 
Guilds would be a terrible addition to ED.

Player control of megaships would also not be a good thing.

Why? You've given no reasons at all.

Megaships that are useful in combat, and can be parked places and used to farm: I agree, because people WOULD use them to farm and gain a clear and possibly unfair advantage.

But how about barges that just jump from system to system, and have no supercruise capability? Useful as mobile bases and lowest-rank-items for refitting in a pinch. (Barge need fuel- you stash your optional modules in storage, fit some tanks, and go suck on a star for a while.) Barge cannot be destroyed, but the weapons can be shot off with a decent assault, rendering it defenseless.
 
We really need a 'hotel California' type thread for this stuff. Been discussed to death already...
