Let me preface this by saying that I've been hooked on this game since starting a few days ago, and will be purhcasing all future contact- thank you for the great game!
I'm broke after buying an Adder (as a general purpose upgrade from the sidewinder- mostly I've just bounty hunted and it's great fun, but I also want to try out exploring, hauling, mining, etc. and experience the game to its fullest- not worried about min/maxing or whatever).
One of the perks of the Adder is the ability to mine, so after an unsuccessful night of selling stolen cargo, my friend decided he would run security for my while I pewpew-ed some rocks for creds. So I buy a mining laser and a refinery and head off.
Now I'm sure tier 2 refineries can refine 2 materials at once, which would alleviate most of what I experienced, but here's my problem: I figured out how refining works, but as I'm gathering my 15% chunks of silver, every time I go to cargo to eject the junk and grab another rock, I have to click off of cargo to get the selector to come up. Takes 1 second. Only problem is, the default option is to eject what you're already in the middle of refining. So after getting up to 97%, I clicked too fast one time and instantly ejected 97% of a ton of silver, which I can't pick back up (which is good, because it would litter the area). There's no confirmation when you eject what you're currently refining (which would probably irritate people, so again, great UI choice) but I just wish that the selection would automatically jump to 'eject all the other stuff' instead of 'eject what you're currently refining.'
That's all, that's my suggestion: when you open the cargo while actively refining, making the "what happens if I press select immediately" default "eject all other materials" instead of "eject what you're currently refining and select a different material."
It kind of caused me to rage-quit, but I'll have another go at it, and hopefully won't make that msitake again... it just seems like an easy fix for a UI choice that might save me and some others some grief. Thanks again!
