Please, <don't> change this money farming bug ! I want my next ship fast!

We don't have a "last shot gets the kill" system in place - unless more than one player is firing on the same target.

We have a "last player shot gets the kill" system in place (unless a Capital ship is also firing on the target).

I'm fairly sure that a significant number of players would complain if the "last player shot gets the kill" feature was changed (as they did to get it changed to that in the first place).

Now I remember it was back in 1.3 ... I wait for "The System FUZZ" to take the "Condas" down to 7 or 6, then jump in with my Winder. Glad that still work ...

No my suggestion was whoever did the most damage gets all the bounty. not share it.
And i put forward a full and precise argument about how that system is batter. and

Ok, maybe I should start a new thread on this alone.

It seems perfectly feasible to me that anybody that attacks the wanted ship should be allowed to get the bounty. Yeah, yeah, the Galaxy can't afford to pay the same amount to everybody that was involved etc, etc. It is a game. If you were involved, you should be awarded the bounty. Creating unnecessary friction between CMDRs about "kill sniping" is just dumb.

" One of the issues was, if an NPC had a beam and you were on a pulse, getting the last hit was really difficult (for obvious reasons). "

Answer : Get a BEAM, and on the way bring back some beer ...

This is really what it comes down to. I don't bring frags and expect them to do the same job a railgun will. I don't bring dumbfires when I need a mining laser. I don't bring pulses when I want to compete for the last shot. Neither should you.

...
Sit and wait then take the last shot, is not "battling" at all its "sitting back and waiting."
(or even worse because standard npcs cant get the bounty now, its let the npcs do the work. and dont battle at all.)
...

the system we have now "that you say makes you battle" is:
fly in to a combat zone in solo shoot every enemy 1ce. then just put 4 pips to shields and let the npcs rake in the bounties..

...

Right now its a matter of shoot 1ce and let the npcs do the hard work.

If this is how you play only one thought comes to my mind, "You call yourself a pilot?"

Why would you wait around for bounties to come in? It's faster to kill them yourself. I went from sidewinder -> cobra -> vulture (where I was at for months and months) -> FAS (couple of weeks) -> python (few hours). I don't remember my sidewinder and cobra days but in a vulture I would be wasting time if I sat waiting for NPCs to kill each other after tagging them. Also seems like a very unrewarding way to play the game.

The game has to be accessible enough to attract new purchases. I get that. The point of this thread of mine was: if I did nothing to secure the bounty, I should not get the bounty. Period.

But this doesn't have to be "the loudest mouth wins" (mine included). FD could do this as a gameplay option (if you want it or are curious....you opt for it and then you can opt out). It adds diversity/realism to gameplay for those who seek it. And this could bring more people in, or keep people locked in because it adds a new twist (not this get the bounty thing, but other important gameplay improvements I read on forums that sound good but FD is afraid to implement for various reasons).

As for the question how many want this either way (how many , not how many loud ones), Maynard (the moderator) said in another post, that forum users are not representative to the player base. Ok again. But I guess all players (Steam, retail, and so on) start their game through this same screen, where, in a corner, one could replace one of those "news" snippets with a poll on some sensitive issues

i assume it would be unrewarding if it didn't reward you.. what is unrewarding though is doing 90% of the work and getting no reward for it (probably the definition of unrewarding)
Atleast in a combat zone you get to kill the people that steal your bonds. makes it more satisfying.

P.S
I did not say that is how i play.
All im saying that this system encourages that style of game play over actually doing any work.

Much easier to sit about with beam lasers then swoop in for a 0 risk kill.

But like i said at least in a combat zone you get to shoot them for doing it.

(side winder>cobra>asp>python. took about a week and 1/2 if you care. still have the asp and a whole fleet of sidewinder markers. python cant be upgraded any further. probably should buy something else now but i like it.)

The balance is a bit broken. It was closer to correct income rate in January 2015, but...

Before you earned almost nothing from brainless res grinding. Only way to make money was trading. Now BH is maybe the best income up to ~20 mil, and you can still continue as long as you want. Maybe Type-9 starts to provide good enough income from trade, that can top BH income. Smuggling with ASP is competitive probably as well.

BH income is ok for now, because the rest of the game is out of balance, broken. They should spent some time to fix this, and then decrease the amount of credits we get from brain dead activities. Yes, earn more from something that actually feels like that you are doing something.

100k is a lot of money in early game, but later, well, it is not much to be honest. So it is not "broken" in the current end game. Now new players just skip Viper pretty fast, which is a bit sad imho.

What is rewarding is outplaying another CMDR and making the decisions and taking the risks that allow you to get the last hit.
It's not like there's a whole genre of competitive games that reward you for the last hit or anything.

But you are blinded by anything other than 'this just promotes lazy gameplay where I wait until they're almost dead and poke them before they die'.
Hey, if you wanna play that way, go for it. Don't drag us all the way down to this level though. The rest of us are doing just fine up here.
If you would take a more open minded approach you'd see the dynamic clear as day.

Would you like hard data?

Lets meed up in a hasRES. You do the lazy man tactic, I'll do a more traditional bounty hunting tactic, and we'll see which method the game rewards more.
Spoiler alert, I'm going to get you killed and then hog the RES to myself. This is intended. Such is life. Welcome to a cutthroat galaxy. If you don't have the chops to play in this kind of atmosphere, maybe it's not the game for you.

Name the system and get a Cobra XIII

P.S. it's not how you play it, it's if you don't try securing the trophy, the game shouldn't hand it to you
With this I agree. There's been a thread or two last year wanting to bring back NPC kill stealing and I fully support them.
I'll PM you on my next day off.

i support npc kill stealing.
But it should be highest damage dealt that gets the bounty IMO.
im getting tired of chasing cmdrs out of my cz because they cant stick to their own prey.
