Please FD stop the suicide interdictors

It's getting really boring with the suicide interdictor NPCs.
I get interdicted by "mostly harmless" Eagles and Imp Couriers almost every second jump (ok, not that often but it feels like it). The only thing the NPC does is shooting a few times at me and then flying completely confused in front of me waiting to get KWSed and killed. It doesn't help that they often have no shields. Without that KWS I would just fly away and let the small Beam turrets do their job. A "mostly harmless" Eagle isn't worth my attention.

I fly an Anaconda. My ship has big guns, really big guns and a nice shield. I don't even notice the weapons fire from a "mostly harmless" NPC Eagle. I don't have to put pips into weapons to kill those ships. I do have to turn my ship to prevent my small turrets to destroy the ship before the KWS is done.

The most annoying thing is I have to submit to the interdiction. If I fight and win the interdiction mini-game they interdict me almost instantly again. The only way to get rid of them is to submit fire once to destroy them and move on.
They interdict me almost always just before jumping to the next system. 2 times already they jumped with me to the next star and I got instantly pulled out of SC and very close to the star. Just to be greeted by a NPC that shoots once or twice and then does nothing while waiting to get killed.

Please FD stop this insanity. The current NPC interdictions aren't fun, they aren't dangerous, they are annoying. Not many real CMDRs would try to pirate an Anaconda with an Eagle.

Why not just add a wait timer every now and then? It's more fun to watch a progress bar than that silly NPC behavior.

And while I'm at it: HC jumps should interrupt the interdiction tether. NPCs shouldn't attack ships that are much, much more powerful than the ships they fly and if they do they should actually fight or run away once they realize that they just interdicted a ship with weapons and shields and a CMDR who knows how to use those things. My combat ranking should be an indication that it's not a good idea to interdict me in my 'conda with an Eagle.

Ah, now I feel better. Thanks for reading or ignoring ;)

I do think NPC's ships should scale with your own when it comes to interdictions, but you're wrong on one part - the interdiction tether IS broken upon Hyperspace. Technically, they're following you into the next system using their own hyperdrives.

I love their persistence, but I understand that you're flying an Anaconda. You should be stopped by more Deadly Pythons, those make the game awesome :D

It is quite silly. I have a giggle every time a sidey or eagle interdicts my FDL. It was worse with PP with the enemy adders pulling me over.

I got dragged out of supercruise the other day by a sidewinder........I'm driving a Battle - Conda.......By the time I stopped laughing I was almost down an eighth of a shield ring.......This winder was dancing around like a fly on crack giving it his all. I tell you, after I managed to deploy weapons he only lasted a second or two. 5 minutes of priceless entertainment and laughter, wondering why.

@OP, agree 100%.

It certainly feels like they keep the interdiction tether. I jump out of HC and get almost instantly interdicted. What ever reason, it's silly. They should wait until they are out of the danger zone.

Yes, a bit more persistent NPCs would be nice, but that's just wrong. It feels wrong.

I had an other encounter with a NPC. I was flying around with my DBS and got interdicted by an Elite Anaconda. After my shields dropped and my hull was down to 68% I decided to flee. I jump to SC and instantly get interdicted by the same NPC again, I run and just as I get into SC he interdicts me again. NPCs trying to get their job done is nice, but that just feels like cheating. No way a player could do this so fast.

Yea, deadly+ Pythons, Vultures and Anacondas make the game interesting. Quality over quantity is better in my opinion.

I think you need to look at it this way.
NPCs make mistakes, maybe it thinks its mates are right behind, coming in to help out?
So just take it out, it is always a few credits, then get out of there and on your way.

It definitely needs some tweaking - right now it reminds me of X3 where a couple of pirate fighters would make a beeline for my corvette and just get blown away by the turrets.

But, I do love the interdictions in general. The pirates really needed to be more proactive on the system scale.

One of the "logical" ways to do this would be to get less and less attacks when your rating goes up. I'm mostly harmless in an ASP, I can get that some dude hopes to take me with his cobra. Ok, he doesn't know I'm mostly harmless but with an A rated Asp because I just don't embrace a fighting carrier but that's not the point.
I would find it very stupid for NPCs to go attack Elite ships waaaay above their iown ship class, especially solo. So, grinding the ranks would actually give you breathing space from NPCs. I have done most of my rank gain since PP, I'm not a combat guy primarily, but those NPCs keep coming and line up to be destroyed, it seems.

When most of the AI interdicting you are mostly harmless Cobra's and your Dangerous in a Python, it gets pretty ridiculous
To be fair, my combat ranking is still Novice and I'm going around interdicting wanted Pythons and Anacondas in my Imperial Courier. If I don't know any better, why should they?

It could be tweaked, but I think they should still have noob NPC's do it sometimes, its good to have variety, and as Eddy wrote earlier "by the time I stopped laughing" .... it made you laugh! Don't we play to have fun? :)

So keep the little harmless eagles doing the occassional interdiction in the game, but just scale a bit more to the upper end as well for the bigger ship CMDRs

ree wholeheartedly with OP.

Currently is simply annoyance because of time wasted.

Please don't limit interdiction numbers (they're fine tuned arm IMHO) but scale them up with our ship.

The so called (currently used) rank distance determined per security of system must start at my rank (and go up). Those eagles should go away.

Please make it consistent with game name : DANGEROUS.

The annoying thing about it for me is that if I do waste the NPC I have a bounty clogging up in my Inbox that I don't want to collect.

You guys picked the strangest thread to necro.....

This has been largely fixed. I do still get the occasional shmoe that has no business trying to mess with me but does, and that's fine. But I am seeing a lot of variance in seeing size, rank, etc...and that's what's important.

I kind of feel the same way as the OP. I fly a python and experience a lot of silly interdictions. Also what I've noticed happening only in the past few days is an NPC following me to a station. The obvious happens, they fire at me once and get obliterated by system security. It's not really annoying or anything just silly, it makes the NPC's seem pretty dumb. I've been playing for months and never saw this until about 2 days ago, since then it's happen 3 times.

On a completely different note however, I find NPC's ahave recently gotten MUCH better at interdicting, so much so I win less than 10% of interdictions now I would say. (I was actually wondering if carrying 270T of cargo makes it harder for me to escape interdictions due to me being less maoeverable, if so, that's cool). And also, the NPC's are getting much tougher too! just these issues of suicidal NPC's seems a little odd.

fixed? i don't know about that...

on both my T9 and my dropship I get a bunch of small ships attacking me.

You could argue the T9 since hey you're on a freighter they don't expect you to be packing 4 a-grade boosters 2 class 2 multi canons, a class 2 beam later and 2 class 1 pulse lasers and probably can't find for myself but when you are constantly being interdicted as you prepare to jump it gets annoying after a while.

Its especially worse when you get interdicted in a "lawless" system and thus they aren't even worth the ammo and time wasted since there is no bounty to claim.

Elite combat rank, Python with 3x beams and 2x multicannons, got interdicted by a sidewinder yesterday while doing bulk trading. Don't remember it's rank because it was like squashing a bug. Then got interdicted by an eagle a few minutes later. Also squashed that.

Interdictors really should be limited by mass. No way a class 1 or 2 interdictor should be allowed to stop a ship with a class 6 frameshift drive.
