Perhaps the above should read: "I disapprove of the manner and what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Ryan and I sit on opposite sides of the fence; he is unlawful and I am anything but.
I have gotten into arguments with him on forums and indeed his diplomacy is not terribly advanced. But a one-year long ban from posting seems excessive even to me. It amounts to the censoring of a very important unlawful voice who despite his manners, is an incredible and knowledgeable PvP Commander. There are very few PvP Commanders who post on forums at his level of expertise. Please.

Thank you.

If only cheaters would get banned that long!

I'd bet that Ryan slept even better than usual after that ban, knowing he'd never have to come back to this toxic cesspool again.

You've got to ask yourself why PvP'ers don't visit the forums at all.

Most of the time it's because of sheer toxicity towards PvP players and playstyles, with even the moderators taking it out on them with biased and disproportionately heavy-handed sanctions for trivial posts that other forum regulars would get away with (if it was directed at the right people). Ryan was subjected to just that when he posted a discord screenshot of something a forum moderator said about his playergroup. The one year ban was the result of a personal grudge on behalf of that mod.

Give a good reason why anyone who PvPs or ganks should bother posting about their playstyle if the moderators are 1) mostly strongly against it personally, 2) unable to separate their personal grudges from the community's expectations of unbiased moderation put upon them, and 3) able to hand out such heavy sanctions without the consultation of anyone else on the mod team.

I'd bet that Ryan slept even better than usual after that ban, knowing he'd never have to come back to this toxic cesspool again.

I can't really say much about Ryan's ban since I don't know him or the situation.

I CAN (perhaps) back up what has been said about PvP players in general and some of the hostility they face. A few weeks ago, Feisty Goat invited me to his Discord after a few encounters we had in Deciat. Let me say that the guy and his crew are super helpful and knowledgeable, and they are actively trying to help noobs out with engineering and PvP stuff. Feisty's crew doesn't hang out over here though.

Feisty posted something which made me think a little. He said that no one has a right to dictate the play style of anyone who paid money for a game. You know what? I think I agree with him. I personally do not "gank" and never will (legit PvP is cool, but that's where I decide to draw the line personally) but if you do, go for it; it's YOUR game.

But these PvPer's aren't the heinous monsters that they are sometimes made out to be.
