Please fix PVP piracy...

So go and make a bounty hunting whine thread instead off telling me in my thread that piracy is ok. IF bounty hunting is messed up then they should fix that too. But clearly piracy needs fixing, i never tried bounty hunting so i cant comment, but it offtopic in this thread!!!

Dude, i'm no friend of GF and he doesn't need any help but you should probably look him up.
Maybe ask him for help.

Hypothetically speaking, if the BH system worked and was awesome, would you turn coat and become a gamekeeper?

Nah, I'm a pirate at heart :p

I didn't say piracy is okay, I said the opposite.

What I said was comparatively bounty hunting is in a worse position.

Comperatively? PVP piracy doesnt work at all, how is bounty hunting worse? Enlighten me...

I have only had the cargo bug once since the start of the prism CG and it was 1 of the times I used hatchbreakers. the bug is intermittent right now. This thread doesnt seem to be as much about making piracy better as much as it is about fixing bugs in existing mechanics which I thik some people have missed based on responses

The piracy as we know it went out of fashion, these days.

Modern Elite pirates stopped stealing goods from people and started stealing fun, instead. I guess it's much easier.

Yeah, im not a pirate anymore, now im going too eravate and kill noobs for fun... Since i dont have any other crimes too do anymore, i might as well become a killer..

Think about it, piracy wise, we have to deal with combat log, menu log, occasional cargo bug, cargo get spread over a wide distance, security shows up way too fast for solo pirates.

Let's pretend that combat logging isn't the majority of our encounters, we can still get cargo.

Bounty hunter wise, all the victim ship has to do is to log out or high wake. Which just about any player criminal in ED probably knows to do and equip themselves accordingly to do so.

Pirates requires cargo acquisition from mostly vulnerable ships to be considered a success, bounty hunting requires ship destruction of a likely combat ready ship to be considered a success.

Right now the later is much more difficult than the former.

Its not just PvP piracy, PvE piracy is hurt by this as well. I've given up doing PvE piracy until this is fixed. It takes long enough to find a good target, get them pacified, and if lucky stopped and not drifiting, only for then the collectors facing ghost cargo.

Used to be that as long as you kept the target alive it wouldn't happen. Now its happening even when the target is alive.

This has not been my experience of PvE Piracy yet. My Black Omega friends and I are thieving things every night across a wide range of products, in wings and alone, and it's not been reported so far.

Hopefully we won't encounter it.

Wow, im surprised i didnt get banned last night for me ignoring the swear filter and warning from the mods 3 times, first time in history they didnt ban me for it,,, +1 rep too the mods:D. They just nicely edited it all too look good, hahaha. Well my mood is better today and I'll give frontier the benefit of the doubt on this one, hopefully this get fixed soon.

Id like to add, that i havent experienced these issues with PVE like Agony_aunt..

I think it's fair to say that both piracy & bounty hunting need urgent attention from FDev (both PvE & PvP) as both activities have been starved of dev time and fresh gameplay ever since release.

Specifically with piracy, the following problems/issues need addressing:

  • Cargo stolen from other players still sometimes does not appear in the cargo hold (this has been supposedly 'fixed' about 3 times now)
  • NPC subsystem rebooting makes PvE piracy a messy, frustrating chore. NPC behavior needs to revert or semi-revert to 2.1 in this regard to make PvE piracy fun and viable again
  • Unless cargo is dropped in one neat cluster, it is very hard to collect (it explodes, drfits away... etc), yet the game seems to make it very difficult and rare for this to occur
  • No way to declare piracy on other players or NPC's, which makes life difficult for console-based PvP pirates and piracy between two players who do no speak the same language
  • Pirate outposts do not have any specific functions or features, and interact with players in exactly the same way as 'legit' stations
  • No piracy focused ships (multi-purpose ships are supposedly good for piracy, but this is sketchy - most of the time they are too slow or navy rank-locked)
  • No piracy ranks or career pathway, no sense of progression (i.e there is no real feeling of playing the game as an outlaw/pirate - it's just something you can do randomly)
  • Archon Delaine's special abilities do little to benefit piracy

Bounty hunters need some love b4 pirates get more time/attention.

pirates get more time/attention.

more time/attention.

Lol, you are joking right!?! The pathing logic (or lack of it) is pathetic. If anything gets in the way they will repeatedly smash themselves to oblivion.

I'm thinking... with these new structures that are being added, a new piracy venue could be opened up as well - picture this:

You approach a facility, flying casually so as not to arouse any suspicion, keeping careful watch on where the patrol ships are, and duck into one of those passages we've seen videos of, weave through some corridors, and find the facility's storage area. You load up on cargo, and begin to work your way back out, keeping watch for active sensors and of course the patrol ships outside.

Why rob a brinks when you could rob a bank?

Just a thought.

Also fix cargo decay so it atleast last 5% longer, so tired of having cargo blow up before i finish collecting.

You can't separate certain things. Piracy, bounty hunting and a proper C&P system are all needed plus action against CLogging as a combined update.

I doubt they will get it right first time and rebalancing will be needed, that's just inevitable, but it would become more unbalanced to just do 1 of these 3.

Pirates need an effective system that works and identifies them as what they are rather than griefers plus safe havens.

Bounty hunters need a system to track targets down.

C&P should punish criminals with long term consequences and protect the innocent scaled by security ratings.

Until then it's all just playing around the edges for little fixes.
