Please fix the AI.

Hi there.

I sometimes get attacked by Clear ships who just jump into the area, immediately shown hostile on the radar, attacking me for no reason at all. I have no bounty, no fee, no illegal or stolen cargo, and I did not fire stray shots at them or anything.

Just now an Authority ship did that. I was hunting pirates in Ekonir at the Nav Beacon, when a police ship jumps in, shown hostile on radar, with the words "Die, freebooter!", proceeding to attack me while there were 2 actual wanted targets in the vicinity.

What's with ships randomly attacking? Authority ships of all things? Please fix this. Authority should not attack me when I did not commit any offense, and random ships should not attack when I have neither a bounty nor any cargo whatsoever.

EDIT: No, I am not hostile with any faction. Neutral all across the board.

Are you hostile with the federation/empire/alliance/a minor faction? If you've ticked them off enough, they will fire on sight, with those exact words. I had the federation hostile to me for a good while until FD semi-reset the reputation, now I'm just unfriendly to them.

I assumed this was going to be about the AI's docking abilities, which are, as we can all agree, abysmal :p

I've seen similar occurrences when I'm at a Nav beacon killing wanted targets. I never hit anything except the wanted targets and after killing about 5 or 6 a lone fed will make an attack run and then stop abruptly. He doesn't continue his attack, just takes a few pot shots and stops. I have no bounty, my reputation with the federation is neutral, no fines, etc. The only thing I can think of is that the factions that the wanted targets belong to are angry and that's affecting the feds behavior somehow.

I think that the fed is upset that I'm doing a better job than he it at patrolling the nav point, lol.

Actually I have experienced this, didn't think to ticket it at the time but yes, a "hostile" fed, that isn't actually hostile, he's just spewing abuse at me and following me round. Tells me he's lining up an attack run and never does anything about it.

I am not hostile with anyone. Neutral all across the board.

That sounds like a bug to me then, take some screenshots and ticket it.

Anarchy system maybe?

Also I've found that if I've killed a couple or more ships near a nav beacon, the authorities turn hostile. I dunno whether it's because they see me as "playing cop", hogging the kills or a culmination of scanning them, hardpoints out and the occasional killing.

You've popped someone who belonged to the same faction as the the clear guys showing red, they're angry you killed their mate. It can be handy though. Find someone from the local pirate faction, kill him. Now all the pirate faction guys will show up red.

Now I'm wondering, do anarchy systems that have stations still have "faction police"? Because that would make sense, rattled a few bullets off the popo's hull, you still won't have a bounty but you'll tick em off.

I am not sure whether or not Ekonir is considered an Anarchy system. I'll do another trip there and try to find out.

In any case, I did not kill anybody at that Nav Beacon prior to the policeman showing up and being hostile towards me. I arrived, scanned someone, police jumps in, I see my target is Wanted, police calls me a freebooter, I think before I even open fire on said wanted target. Police starts firing at me - at first I thought they're trying to shoot the Wanted in front of me, with my coincidentally in the line of fire, but no - they were after me. Never even scanned me, nothing.

No, I have not. I did not kill anyone at that Nav Beacon prior to the police's arrival and hostility.

I have get this all the time. It is a bug only with the federation and possibly with the other 2 MAJOR factions. To avoid this I just go to independent systems, the authority vessels never attack me for no reason, even if I shoot a wanted ship from their faction.

Ideally, the best thing to do is get a Kill warrant scanner and go to an anarchy system with resource extraction sites, the best biggest bounty's and no cops to annoy you off by getting in your line of fire, not to mention you don't get bounties on you for killing random innocents.

That bit could make all the difference

The cop was hostile the very moment they jumped in. I just don't remember whether they jumped in during the scan or during my fight with the pirate. In any case, police are not supposed to turn on you for fighting targets with serious bounties on their heads in that specific system.

EDIT: Ekonir has a Corporate Government, Low security and its allegiance is Federation.

Hi Riepah,

....." I arrived, scanned someone, police jumps in"....
-did you use the kill warrant scanner? In this case all bounties are shown. Maybe he's clean in this sector and the bounty was in annother one?

True, but if you were fighting someone of his faction when he appeared then yes he would've gone red to you, That is a known bug and makes sense. If he went red before you were fighting then that's something a bit less known I think (at least by me).

I did use the Kill Warrant Scanner - but first I did the normal scan, which showed my target as "Wanted". I know how bounty hunting works - it was 100% not a Clean target.

I am pretty sure said bug was allegedly fixed - and I have often killed Wanted targets of the controlling faction before in other systems, with Authority assisting rather than assaulting me.

It may've been said to be fixed, but it hasn't. Happened to me night before last. The rep problems themselves have been fixed, but in instance hostility has not.

Right now, while going through some USS trying to find someone to send me on my way to my next Anaconda kill, I jumped in on two pirates. They scan me, and this time, because I had cargo, they opened fire. While they scanned me I scanned one of them with my KWS. I proceed to kill that one, then switch target to the other pirate and open fire while scanning with my KWS again - and I incurred a 400 credit bounty for firing at someone who has been shooting me for a while now, just because I didn't finish the regular Clear/Wanted scan.

I'm now kill-on-sight to authority because I defended myself. This really needs fixing.

Reputation 101 it counts for a lot. If you are seen as hostile towards the npcs they will kill on sight.
