Please fix the RES RNG

I'm sure we all experienced that, especially in a CG: the more players are in a RES, the less NPC ships appear. Soon the RES is full of players without any target to shoot at forever - or, at least, until everyone leaves, then the RES instantly fills with NPCs

Now, I understand that the engine can't probably handle hundreds of ships at the same time, but maybe tune the respawn rate in relation to number of players?

IMO it makes sense that pirates stop showing up when the RES is full of bounty hunters...

Except that pirates don't mind being in a site full of NPC bounty hunters. This is discrimination!

Get out of your farming zones, equip an FSDI and go work for your credits.

You are the kind of person that when told "I have a problem doing this with X" answer with "Dump it and buy Y instead", aren't you?

RES without players: 3 miners / 3 bounty hunters / 3 pirates
RES with players: 3 miners / 12 bounty hunters / 0 pirates

I think he is the kind of person who gives you alternatives when you have a problem. You should also be able to drop into the ring anywhere, no need to go to the RES.

It's a well known fact that NPCs are racists and prefer their own kind over filthy humans.

Could be good advice though.

Not at all. But in the case of bounty farming in ED, I find the whole RES idea utterly ridiculous. In my eyes this isn't bounty hunting, this is lowly MMO-style farm. Pays way too much for how uninvolved it is and wreaks immersion (pirates respawning ad infinitum for your farming pleasure shouldn't exist in a game that wants to be a believable living breathing universe), so I have no sympathy for those asking the devs to increase the spawn rate which only compounds the issue of it being an MMO-style meat grinder, when they should be asking the devs to get rid of the whole thing and implement some real bounty hunting.

its even worst on xbox i could be the only one in a res and as soon as the first wave is complete no other npcs show i have to log out close the game before i can shoot anything else

There really isn't any application for sense here, it doesn't make any sense that pirates show up at RES at all considering they take nothing and only exist to be reaped by a player.

I agree so much. I also get very confused when commanders say "Hey, come to this RES, it's a really good one."

Erm... they are all the same eandom number generator buddy. But cool... enjoy.

basically this. from my understanding, pirates should stop spawning, after you have killed some of them ... especially if you have aken out some very expensive ships. i mean, it's like: hey, there is a playerkilling cmdr wing out of the no firezone, lets take our tradeships and let them shoot us.

and in rare occasions, especially in low sec systems, pirates should mobilise a fleet to get rid of that bounty hunters.

so, I'm with OP - spawn rate should be fixed - but in the other direction...

on the other hand, we need more incentives for winging up. more pirate wings, less single targets.

pirates show up at RES ... they take nothing

not really - i can see npc pirates scooping and collecting cargo in RES. then they start fighting about it with each other...

How dumb do you think NPC's are, not going go to a popular place and get shot at :)

Also if there are to many players in Res, find new one?

They scan their target, fire limpets at it while its got its shields up and occasionally manage to get 1t of rutile to drop, i've never seen them scoop probably because they spent 99% of their time in combat with empty ships, sometimes they scan each other and find that they have *gasp* limpets! Oh here comes a mighty payday! PewPewPewPew

Whats ridiculous is the idea that pirates would attack a RES in the first place, they might take from the miners once they are full but attacking them when they are empty is moronic.

The whole thing is a giant stack of this only exists for players to farm bounties, don't try and apply logic or reason to it beyond that it falls at every single hurdle.

Oh, my, now we are getting the 'realism' argument. Well this is, you know, a game, and a game is supposed to be played. Maybe you all don't remember the early days when bounty hunting was pretty much useless to make money, and in fact the only possible way to make any money at all was to bore yourself to death endlessly hauling stupid stuff back and forth between stations. Current RESs and other things are there now precisely to make the game playable and enjoyable by everyone instead of being just "Truck Simulator 3302". Now, since we have now all those mechanisms in place, could we also have them working, thank you?

what we need is a REsite that has the somewhat the same spawnpool as a SSS.. yes im asking for wings of 13 in a REsite.

i have to note that i notice a differance between being solo in a RES or being in a wing of 4... i get more bigger wings.
