Newcomer / Intro Please fix this game

OK, I've got 50 million in the bank and a fully tricked out ASP explorer and Vulture. I'm expert ranked in combat. I'm a petty officer. The point being that I've played the damn game and I have it figured out. And-I do not know how a game can simultaneously be so brilliant and so stupid. Listen, if there are no rewards for activities what is the point of playing the game? And who dreamed up this ridiculously stupid factional 'Power Play" B.S? What reality is that nonsense based on? What military ranks up its commanders for the amount of propaganda they deliver? Why the hell should I give a damn about the petty politics of every minor faction in every corner of the galaxy? I do not care. I also do not play this game to get embroiled in the made-up politics of some made up galaxy. We have enough problems in reality. Seriously, if it's not modeled on any semblance of the real world and it is a huge cluster**** and pain in the **** for players who exactly thought it was a good idea? Have they ever played a video game before? How about a space sim? I don't recall mindlessly exploring vast stretches of empty space for peanuts in X-Wing Alliance. I don't recall space trucking 50 tons of propaganda to Kashyyyk. THAT game was legendary. This game is a frustrating mess that I just wish worked better because I love the genre and absolutely hate everything that Star Citizen stands for. Please fix this game.

I loved the X-wing games, but they were linear, level based space sims.
They offered no freedom like ED. They had no simulation of the galaxy.
You just went from mission to mission in black boxes.
The fundamental concepts of these games are so different that they can not be compared.
Basically the only thing they have in common are spaceships and combat.

You do realize that this is a game in the midst of development?
First FD released a framework and now is slowly but surely building on that.

Basically you have two complaints? Powerplay and exploring?

Powerplay needs a second look. FD said so too. They will get around to that eventually.

Why the hell should I give a damn about the petty politics of every minor faction in every corner of the galaxy?

You don't have too and that is why you can ignore it. It is not mandatory. Others do like to get involved.
I have played PP for a while myself, but I felt that it needs a lot of work to keep me interested in the long run.
I want more PP content for players like me who do not like to pvp, or do not care about fighting for territory.

I agree that exploring needs more content too, although there are a lot of explorers who enjoy it immensely as it is.
The content for exploring is coming. FD will add alien artefacts, ruins etc.
Eventually we will be able to land on vlcanic planerts, and planets with atmospheres. Life will be added. We will be able to enter the upper atmospheres of gas. giants etc.

Again. You seem not to realize that this game is in development.

OK, cute. Now I spend my time taking robotics to Obotrima all week to find out I have to go there to pick up my money for doing so, and this place is under blockade by a bunch of deadlies that interdict me all over the place. Cute. Really. This is the kind of experience that people really pay the big bucks for. What do you think the odds are of me ever participating in a community goal again? IF I had not JUST purchased and outfitted a Python last night I would be going to Star Citizen today no matter how much I despise what they have done.

Never do a CG in OPEN - I did once and never EVER again.

Lemme get this straight - you had 50 M in the bank, and you bought and outfitted a Python last night? Neat trick, considering the stock Python costs almost 57 M credits.

If you're gonna troll, at least keep the story somewhat plausible.

Nah, just keep on ranting so I can keep on watching for LOLs.
.
Really if you want help then calm down and ask. By logging on to rant you aren't going to get much help.

50M + trade in A grade Asp he said he had can get you a Python. It'd be fairly low-specced, though. That's pretty much what I did.

What I love about this game is how people's play experiences can be so different. The OP here is complaining about all this stuff, but you can so easily do something else that doesn't even touch on PowerPlay. Asides from about an hour one night where I thought I'd check what the fuss was about, I've logged hundreds of game hours without caring about PP. I played without engineers for some time before looking at that, and, before that, I'd only ever driven an SRV on a planet for a short time in the Horizons beta.

There's actually masses of different things to do in this game, but yeah, it has it's downsides. I mean, first you have to know what you want to do, then you have to do it. That can be tricky for some people. Also, you can get a bit pulled in to combat. There are people who completely avoid that, too, but it is a bit tricky.

One of the things you don't have to do, though, is multi-player. You can switch to solo mode and avoid that aspect of gameplay entirely.

I once got asked by an online contact to do a bit of powerpants to help him get something achieved. After seeing the red "hostile" above my fuel gauge I decided to unpledge and have never felt the urge to give it another go, not even for prismatic shields.

Since F D can't even be bothered to produce more than the single stock artwork for each of the "major players" I don't see how powerpants can possibly gain anuy sense of immersion, if they want it to have more impetus they need to put a bit more flesh on the bones in my opinion.
