Please Frontier give us a PvP open only gamemode or mission board.

I'm liking the new PP2.0 changes so well done Frontier however I'm a bit disappointed at its lack of online/open only.

Now I'm not actually a massive PvP player, but I would be if the game had a dedicated mode I have only loosely taken part as I find it a chore getting into a good PvP fight. I don't think a PvP mission board or open only/online only game mode would hurt the game you search the discords there is a market for it. I just find it weird in an MMO the tools and mode in game don't exist. The game is already exclusively solo/private friendly, and it should remain this way. My lack of increased PvP activity is due to a dedicated mode not existing. I know Arena exists but it doesn't use your own ship and doesn't have any impact in the main game or background sim, the rank is pretty meaningless.

Has anyone ever tried bounty hunting players using the in game bounty board? I have tried but gave up pretty quick as its near impossible to find these wanted players! Players at an extremely high wanted level aren't even flagged in game and they can hide offline anyway :)

I fully support that the majority of Elite should have options for solo and pve only gameplay.

It's about time we had a pvp mode or pvp misson board honesty as we have thousands of factions and massive superpowers there is going to be conflict from a lore point of view.

PvP is currently hit and miss and often bug swatting. Oh look a freighter pilot you'll be mince meat to my fully engineered cutter. I want to compete with other commanders on an equal or semi equal playing field. I would fully support a PvP gamemode this is Bore-rena which is a dead mode and useless as no one can even see this rank and it doesn't nothing in game.

Giving people who want to fight each other an excuse (and place to meet) would be fantastic. Community goals used to be great for this when they were just weekly minor goals with no real consequences outside the system they took place in, but that had the issue that a lot of people expect CGs to be PvE and get mad when they show up to a war and there are people on the other side.

An explicit "GO HERE IF YOU WANT A FIGHT" thing that's explicitly up-front about not being for people who just want to PvE would be neat, though I have little faith that there wouldn't be complaints about it on the basis of "how dare the devs spend time on a thing that isn't for me".

How about a new bubble, like Colonia, but in this region you can only do stuff if you are in Open?

As an anti-open only person, i'd be fully on board with that.

One of the issues with open only is the size of the play area in the bubble. In a smaller area on the scale of Colonia there would be increased chance of meeting other players.

"this isn't for me therefore nobody else should have it"
While the game allows PvP it does not force any player to present themself to be shot at while engaging in any in-game feature. PvP exists for those who want it - but can't be forced on those who don't.
I've often wondered if ganking would be as much of a deal if people had literally anything to do to fight other players that they didn't have to organise themselves.
It would be naive, at best, to expect that those engaged in no-skill (required to be exhibited) no-risk (to themself) ganking would stop doing it if a PvP feature was introduced that required them to take on those ready and willing to engage in PvP.

What is wrong with logging into open and going to SD or Deciat to look for a fight?

IIRC, there also used to be some PvP in San Tu, but AFAIK they went to some other system when the ruling anarchy faction was demoted to the bottom of the inf ladder.

Personally I think that open anything is doomed to failure unless the instancing get much improved..

The game isn't Open only, im going to guess it never will be, but that shouldn't stop you, if you want PvP get yourselves organised, head to a system and knock yourselves out.
What these threads really are is "i cant find anyone to gank".

It has been proposed several times - but the "I want it all" (in terms of wanting existing pan-modal game features to be PvP-gated to Open disregarding any adverse effects on all players currently engaged in those features in Solo and Private Groups) players don't want to just have an Open only feature, they want to effectively remove it from those who don't enjoy PvP.

FWIW, it made us laugh when we saw a well known SD ganker doing a hauling CG in solo... :)

IMHO all open-only ideas fail due to the wonky net-code. Once this is fixed, we can talk.
I expect that, even if the net code were perfect and players never unexpectedly lost connections in multi-player instances, there'd be little movement in the position of the player-base as a whole - as only a subset of the player-base enjoys / tolerates / engages in PvP, and another subset of the player-base can't be bothered with it.

It's good to talk though - as everyone gets to express their opinion.

There was me thinking this record had worn out after so many playings. Must be a new pressing.
It really gets old, i don't understand the PvP community in Elite.

When we were in Alpha and Beta before WOW was released there was no PvP arenas, no AV no WSG.
Obviously Horde and Alliance couldn't speak in game so we organised on the Forums to all meet up at the 'Crossroads'.
Those who wanted a scrap enabled PvP and we had a real laugh, no leader boards, no leet PvP gear, just fun killing each other.
Those that didn't want to do PvP just sat around safe (away from the guards if Alliance) and chatted.

I dont see the issue with PvP folks here setting up the same thing in a system.
Again it just boils down to a small vocal minority who just want to attack unarmed Traders for their own satisfaction whilst yelling 'git gud'.

Its not rocket surgery, if you want a row just sort it out and leave the rest of us to PVE.
