Please jump Trailblazer fleet daily during downtime to another system.

The systems with trailblazer fleets collect carriers of people that wont't be playing again for let's say 5 days but they log out with their carrier in a Trailblazer system because it is the best place to log out in if you are into colonization.

Now the systems are clogged up; such that, people currently actively playing cannot use them.

Solution: move the Trailblazer fleet everyday at down time and place a special notification push directly to commanders (with an option to opt out/in as desired) as to where the trailblazers are currently located.

Thanks,

Last thing this game needs is more downtime. PP1 - 10mins weekly. PP2 - one hour weekly. Colonoscopy - extended random colored snake storms.

How would this extend downtime by an amount any human could possible perceive. (script: takes 0.00002 seconds to complete) move 7 vessels to new locations.

The game has to be taken offline to move otherwise static objects. And then there's database propagation. And then the distributed servers have to be brought up. That takes much longer than 20 nanoseconds. Downtime is downtime, no matter how short.

As I recall there is no Daily downtime, just a weekly one where maintenance happens and Megaships ‘move’.

If there was what happens to the commanders docked on the megaship when it moves out of range of the carriers they were loading?
Asking out of curiosity as FDev parked a megaship only 3-4 jumps from my carrier so I still haven’t moved it since it came back to the bubble around the second week of the Exploration CG.

If you aren't using a carrier, the presence of a hundred FCs in the system doesn't really matter. I grabbed a bunch of EPCs and Muon Imager from one yesterday in my T-8 no problem at all. (Randomly moving them, on the other hand, would generally be really inconvenient)

If you are using a carrier, it's going to be barely slower (perhaps faster, since your chances of getting a good parking spot are higher) to park your carrier in any of the bubble's many large Refinery systems, and load up from the stations there instead. If the Industrial/High-Tech/Agricultural supplies needed for your next build are large enough to matter, jump the carrier to one of those systems (doesn't even need to be a particularly big one) and pick up those commodities too; otherwise just make a one-jump trip in your T-9/Cutter from whichever system your carrier is parked at.

There are no commodities the carriers sell which can't be sourced in inexhaustible volumes (relative to demand) from many other bubble systems.

(Muon Imager is probably the closest to except-the-trailblazer-ships supply constraints at this time, but since even the most demanding construction only takes a few hundred tonnes of that, and most things require none at all, even that has plenty of alternative sources)

Wasn't there a few threads recently where we were discussing impact on the game of large numbers of carriers moving all at once?
You are thinking like a player and not a programmer. As a programmer i can make a game take 100,000 hours to jump your carrier when your playing and 0.00002 seconds for me to do it during downtime.

You are talking about the entire obligation of the servers during that downtime and not just the 0.00002 second script necessary during that process to move 7 vessels.

There is a daily downtime, for me it happens at 4:00 am daily. There is a notice of the impending downtime with a 1 hour lead time. Everyday people have to deal with this downtime and adding a script to move 7 vessels will not change the length of that downtime by an appreciable amount.

As to people docked, they could simply be left in space where the ship was when it left. If they chose to leave their ship; where they understood the trailblazer would not be in 15 minutes. they made a choice.

If it was that easy they should use that miracle tech to move carriers around instead of making people wait an hour.
You are playing a game, that game has rules, some are completely artificial but the carrier movement probably was built that way because a carrier is offloaded to a different part of the server to accomplish this goal. To prevent overload of that secondary system they built in a mutable delay process (15min to 1.5 hours). However nobody's carrier is being moved during downtime and they need not use that system to move them anyways, just POOF! moved.

As far as this game goes we are all players not programmers.

Unless of course you work for Frontier Developments and are moonlighting as a player if the game.

I have been sourcing from outside of the trailblazer fleet for most of the stuff that is easy to find: metals, liquid oxygen, F&V, etc but that is not relevant to the request. The request is to make the Trailblazer fleet available to people that are actively playing at a specific moment in time and to 'dump' all the carriers of people that might not play again for days, weeks, years or ever.

The things you don’t know about the game if you don’t play it 24hrs per day.

Out of academic interest how long does this downtime last and what time is it in UTC?

Are you sure we are playing the same game? There is no daily maintenance I know of. Maintenance is once a week on thursday morning, unless there are updates. Also, what time zone are you in, what is your 4:00 translated in game time?

So you want me to jump my carrier every Thursday morning?
No, the moves would happen daily not weekly. And I personally move my carrier between 1-4 times per day. Actually if you are sitting in the Trailblazer system for a week straight you are the person that I hope this new feature will 'dump' so that active participants can be using the Trailblazer fleet, while you are prioritizing other things in your life and your carrier is just taking up a slot in the Trailblazer system.

We are all players but the FDevs are not and are thus not restricted to the constraints placed upon us as players.

Oh I do not play that much. I guess I am not entitled to a parking space neat a Trailblazer ship.

Also: You know there are other stations that sell goods? You can park right at their mailslot. And the argument 'I jump 1-4 times a day' tells me you do not actually need to use the Trailblazer ships at all.
