Please let us group any items!

I just want to be able to merge items into a group, regardless of them being on-grid or off-grid pieces. It's driving me nuts.

It's probably to prevent the game from being confused with grid pieces not being on the same grid and then figuring out which one to use

This. That said if you accidentally ungroup gridded pieces, even if you haven’t moved them, they can’t be regrouped. I think as long as the items are on the same grid they should be able to be grouped.
