FD, thank you for the new Thargoid attacks content. It looks awesome, and I am totally jazzed to get home and play tonight.
Here's the deal... had I not checked the forums this morning, it is highly unlikely that I would have known this content even exists. The reason is that GalNet is such a non-descript, average looking button on my station menu, that often times I don't even realize that it's there. It's about a 99.9% possibility that I would have just blown right by it for weeks without even considering having a look at it.
Thargoids taking out stations in the Pleiades is BIG news. It's the kind of thing that doesn't just get a paragraph on the back page of the Art & Entertainment section, you know?
If you look at the post I linked, the CMDR in question was sent a special message for having been relocated. It would have been nice to log in this morning, and have a special message of my own - "CMDR, this is the PF. Urgent news has emerged from the Pleiades and we need you to.... you can check GalNet for further details..." etc.
A message like that would have directed me towards the content. I would have been all like "Oh snap! Somefins up in da pleiades, yo!"
I urge you, when big, important events happen in game, let us know proactively, not passively.
P.S. babelfisch asked me to ask you to pretty please make the GalNet button pulsate red when there is big news to be seen. He specifically asked for it and said he really wanted it that way because it would help his immersion and to get him into the game more. I totally agree with him, BTW. He also asked for a big, gold quest arrow on the mini map.
