Please let us use reference grid when placing building grids!!

The new reference grid option for building paths are great. What would be even better is to apply this new feature for placement of building grids as well! [heart]

This is a initial problem since Alpha 1, that you cannot integrate buildings to already placed paths or other buildings you want to synchronise with. I am chocked that Frontier haven't address this problem yet? You are so close now!
It is more common to plan your park by placing your path first and adding buildings alongside with it. This became even more clearer during the GameCom live streams were this became a obvious issue for the community guest players who actually expected this new reference grid feature to solve this "path first, building later"-issue. Still, why does Frontier only see a "Building first, path later"-issue that have been manageable since Alpha1? [mouth shut]

We expect to be able to decorate bridges build out with paths first and adding building pieces later on. This is still not possible and you have to rely on your own eye-measure-skills to make this through.

He expected to be able to align building walls to his pre-planned paths to create a nice mural fence. Instead he ending up almost giving it up.


This issue has been addressed in YouTube clips before. Please help me find them and link them here in this thread.

You clips demonstrate this fine to me... De-lady-signer also had a slight problem trying to decorate a bridge (I think) but couldn't so gave up. I'm sure there's a way round it all, flabiliki got it pretty near right but I totally agree, the grid systems need work. I've found it more frustrating than helpful so far.
 
allowing buildings to use the path grid reference would be a godsend. we can snap paths to a building grid, build paths on their own grid system so it makes sense to be able to snap buildings to path grids

also being able to increase the path width when snapping to building grid would be handy. You pretty much just want the building grid reference to be there so that paths will connect and run aligned to the buildings. This might just not be technically possible as it's being dictated to place a path within that building grid tile - same as we cant increase the length

Yeah it would be nice if different grid sizes could interact. Right now you can't interact a 4m path with a dubbel sized 8m path grid even though they are perfectly 1/4 of it. Would be helpful when creating plazas. [praise]
