Please make it so we can accept missions REGARDLESS OF SHIP TYPE .. esp. Navy progression

Trying to do navy missions it's incredibly frustrating to not be able to accept a mission because the current ship I'm in doesn't have a cargo bay, or is the wrong size for the mission. Just let ME figure that out. I have lots of ships for different tasks so it's really irritating to be restricted that way.

Transport missions did away with needing that requirement but for navy missions it still happens.

Absolutely. The warning should remain, or there could even be a confirmation when you're accepting a mission unsuitable for your current ship, but this needs to happen!

Yes, indeed. I'm fine with warnings. If you're a big boy or girl you should be able to acknowledge it. :)

Interestingly, unlike other missions, Naval rank-up missions are randomly generated every time you leave and re-enter the Missions screen.

So pick your ship first, then flip in and out of the board until you get a mission you like. I recently ranked a couple of alts to Baron with data courier missions in Sidewinders.

Yea, eventually you will get lucky with the right fitting , or go in with a craft that can do anything and then take it from there. Not exactly great.

will this type of restriction, if it is still in place, show up when going from a hauler to a type 6? reason i ask is a lot of the 'runner', courier, delivery, etc., missions i run have a habit of taking me into systems that i have not been yet and i am wondering if the mission will give an indication if the station it is sending me to will be able to handle the ship i am currently flying.

You can always add that one cargo space so you don't have this issue.

And yet we have complaints from players who took a mission while in a small ship, then swapped to another ship to do the mission, only to find that the destination is an outpost, which is clearly stated in the mission briefing, and they have swapped to a cutter to do the mission. They can't complete the mission in the cutter, and they can't swap back to a small or medium ship because they have filled up with mission goods and will fail the missions throwing away the mission goods.

The systems not perfect, but the reasons for only missions being available that your current ship is equipped for is to minimise that sort of thing.

+10 for this idea. I'd always accept them, even if the ship is too large, then switch ships to load the cargo.

I don't think the idea put forward is thought out well enough - it is not particularly user friendly nor intuitive.

A better idea might be for naval progression missions to be guaranteed to be available in a given user's bullet-in board once they have met the pre-requisite criteria. They could be segregated from the normal missions in a similar fashion to "linked follow on missions". That way they at least have the option of switching ships and knowing that when they return to the board at that location that the same mission will be available at least for a period of time.

Another alternative would be for people in general to register an interest in a given mission they are unable to take due to ship limitations which then keeps the mission locked on their bulletin board at that station until they formally accept it (in a suitable ship) or the criteria is no longer applicable.

Example #1: a CMDR could lock multiple progression missions for the same rank, they could accept and complete one and any others for the same rank progression would automatically be cleared.

Example #2: a CMDR could lock one or more missions with a specific reputation requirement and lose reputation with the relevant faction, in such a case the locks for any missions they no longer meet the reputation requirements for would be automatically cleared.
