Please make NPCs stop jousting in combat.

They haven't made a single post on this entire thread that is on topic, and they apparently never will, they just spend all their time repeating, ad nauseum, it's the player's fault, NPCs don't joust unless you make them, jousting is an effective tactic, eyeonus is an idiot, eyeonus has no idea what he's talking about, eyeonus needs to learn to fly, if you agree with eyeonus you're an idiot too, etc. etc.

It's a waste of time to pay attention to anything they say on this thread, don't punish yourselves. Just ignore them and let's all get back to the actual topic.
 
Jousting is going to be one of the few tactics the AI can employ without having FA Off available to them.

Calling for NPCs to be granted FA Off ability as well as better engineering, at higher combat ranks only.

Then noobs can hit noobships and skilled players can have engaging duels with strong opponents.

Not bad ideas. You're not the first person to suggest giving them access to engineering. I think you've got a point with the FAoff thing, I don't think that's been suggested yet, surprisingly.
P.S. it won't happen OP. If NPCs exist that are allowed to be competent, that is an oppression of every noob that wants to pull their trigger and see some Elite NPC blow up, complete with the words "YOU WUN! HAVE INFINIT MONIES!"
That's a very defeatist attitude. You may be right, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to try.

Anyone that doesn't make an attempt at something simply because they think they will not succeed has already failed before they even try.

No, the way to correct shortcomings in a game is not to play to a problem by purposely picking poor tools for the job.

In the NPC situation, the correct solution is to have NPC's that adapt their skill based on factors and scale up or down depending on them in how well they fly and how accurate they shoot.

Instead, what we usually get is RNG loadouts and grouped wings, and that is the only thing that determines the difficulty of the npc, because they are otherwise equally bad at combat unless they are cheating modules.

It's not the player's job to put a handicap on themselves for the game to be challenging. That's definitively stupid.

While I don't remember them calling you an idiot, but telling you "it's the player's fault" must have something to do you admitting that you need to go reverse against NPCs just to keep them in your sight. If you really need to do so, then, bite the bullet, you are doing it wrong, that's just a simple fact.
