Please may we have a binding for the new Supercruise Assist function?

Having to use the panel to enable it is slow if you are not already viewing the destination in the panel. For instance if you are following a route from one system to a station in another, upon entering the system the target station will be selected in the HUD, but you will need to scroll through the panel and find it before you can enable S/C Assist.

Agreed.

Edit: Another common situation is you find an ELW in the FSS, use the controls in the FSS to select it. Then you exit the FSS and have to re-find it in the nav panel to SC-Assist to it, which you can do ... but is pretty clunky.

It would also be nice to have a SC-Assist disengage keybind, as if I'm heading to a planet to scan it I throttle down before orbit, and the SC-Assist puts up a large message asking me to throttle up.

IMO...it should auto enable if we throttle down into the blue... just like the other module (with a minor change).

I can't say we shouldn't also have a bind but I don't recall the docking computer having a bind.
I literally assumed it would work exactly the same other than sterring

DC you have to choose to engage it, then throttle down.

I like the sound of that - better than having to find another button to map it to.

I'm on now and the blue part is there so I had assumed I could do as I wrote but that's not the case do yeah...we are on the same page.

I know for PC...I just started over as I was only maybe 2 days play time in...I have extra keys so its not a major issue.
On Xbox One...I'm all out of buttons and I'm double elite..almost triple elite with everything unlocked except one ship

Precisely.
I stopped using the nav panel to select destination in the bubble the moment the option to select it before entering the system was created.
I guess I'll find a new use for this extra slot for now.

Yeah...just got that...its all good tho because its not playing the game for us, it just helping as a QoL update.
I get that but it feels like it actually makes it worse. If I have to watch for and slow down/steer around planets then I might as well just fly myself. It's not as if it can't slow down for planets because it will do that if the planet is the target nor can it not recognise there's a planet in the way because it tells you. I was all in favour of this but I'm really struggling to see the point. Maybe if it kicked in automatically "in the blue" or something it would have more use for the last leg.

Woah wait a sec, in the live stream they just turned it on in the panel once, then when they aligned with the target, while they were in the blue, it would auto engage. Is that not how it works? You have to enable it every time?

If that's the case, I would consider filing a bug report and let them know it's not working as they presented it.

You target it with supercruise assist option in the menu, line up, then slow to the blue then it kicks in. I think that's consistent with the stream. If you do anything to break out of it, you have to then re-target, etc...

Uhmm...its waay better.
You have to steer anyways, the module doesn't remove that, it simply controls the speed at which you approach and automatically drops you when appropriate.

Ahh, ok. Well it's crap design then. It should be just a switch, and it should auto engage when you align and throttle to the right spot. Ok so not a bug, but I'd still suggest it in the issue tracker and use the Feedback header.

Staying in the blue controls the speed already. The only small advantage is dropping you out without pressing a button but at the cost of faff in the menus. With some tweaks it could be useful but unfortunately as it is I can't see me bothering much with it. Apart from, possibly, orbiting planets.

Sure, but I thought you were saying there was an option there to submit as Feedback as opposed to a Bug - that's what I can't find.

Hmm interesting there doesn't seem to be one, well no matter, you can just type "Feedback -" in the title of the report.
