Elite / Frontier Please, Please help.

Hello all, saw a post on a forum earlier today about the amiga and remembered a game which I thought was fantastic. After some searching I found that Frontier: Elite 2 could be downloaded and got all excited. I've not been able to get it to run however, and I desperately want to make it work. I have a pretty modern PC running Windows XP SP2. I am not particularly adept with computers and am convinced that it is me that is causing the problem. Could someone please give me some hints on how I could get this to work as I am dying to play this again. If anyone can help I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks for the reply, I gave the amiga emulator a go as you suggested but couldn't get it to work. I did however, manage to get the PC version to play with something called DosBox. There's a problem with the sound, works on internal speaker only but that'll do. Have been glued to it all day now

I'd have to point out that any talk of emulators and the like are not allowed in the forums as this constitutes piracy and illegal gameplay due to the downloading and illegal use of ROMS.

The download versions of Frontier are quite easily run on XP, so there is no need for an Amiga emulator.

Please check out these links for running the downloaded versions:

That's not true if you legally buy the ROMs. The official Amiga Incorporated (as it is now called - www.amiga.com) sells these and they are available through the emulator Amiga Forever.

Check out: http://www.amigaforever.com/premium/

The best place that I've found to buy the Amiga Forever emulator (and lots of other Amiga stuff) in the UK is AmigaKit (www.amigakit.com).

I'd just like to add that the Amiga version of Frontier Elite 2 is by far the best version that was ever released. The sounds are so much better to mention one thing...

Fair enough. Personally I think that it is important to be clear about these things.
