Please please stop asking for everything to be easy!!

I seriously doubt that average age. I know for a fact that Dota 2's playerbase is nowhere near that old on average and that game is insanely difficult to learn and master. I get what you are saying, and yes there is a portion of gamers who like their games easy, but I really don't think it's an age thing. I mean I'm 35 and I have no feelings towards games being hard or easy as long as I find them fun and rewarding. I've played stupidly hard games to the very end because I enjoyed them, and I've walked away from stupidly hard games because I found them aggravating rather than fun. Gamers our age are not some monolithic group and neither are younger gamers. Dark Souls is a very popular game with a sub-section of younger gamers precisely because it's hard.

It's true. It varies from game to game, but the average age overall is 30+ :eek:
 
I think things should be easier. I think to supplement my docking computer we should be able to buy a trading and flying to other places computer. That way I could trade while I am at work and save the monotony of doing t when I get home.

Once FD get that sorted they should implement an auto explorer computer that jumps, scans, scoops and jumps. In fact if we could get AI for our ships perhaps we could spend our time playing games that don't suck while our AI takes us to elite.

I think these additions would massively improve my gaming satisfaction with ED.

That's why I'm holding out for Ironman mode. :cool:

Iron man is a different issue though. It doesn't mean things are more challenging, you just have to be more careful not to make a dumb mistake like flying into a asteroid or hitting boost in station.

I see what you mean of course but the Ironman mode has the potential to be made more difficult in terms of gameplay too. We'll have to see what FD do in the future and I'm playing in the hope that IM is more challenging and dangerous than standard open.
 
You're confusing "being hard" with "taking a lot of time".
Elite is, for the most part, already easy. A lot just takes an insane amount of time.
I'd welcome more challene, but acually challenge not just more time sinks.

I think we can all agree trading is easy mode to the point of brokeness (almost) you can cheese luxuries and rares. Play solo or log off for no risk high rewards.


Then you come out of trading into your biunty hunting and its no longer easy mode. You dont make millions any more and repairs cost.


Trading has easy routes. Ie carrying all high cost materials. Carrying rares and luxuries. These were envisioned to be pretty rare. But then people post online the short cuts. Of course this will be the easy way to make money. In solo or whatever these people are doing to avoid danger and maximise money per hour.

However i LIKE a challenge. I WANT a challenge. Explorer and pirate and bounty hunter are the hardcore mens roles.


No offence but they DO NOT need making easier with creds per hour and better insurance and less repercussions. I LOVE the challenge of these roles and the slow progression. I love the scary rep bill 2hen things go wrong or making a loss.

Really i think before asking for all these easy mode. Cheaper repairs. Creds per hour. Take a look at your playstyle and dont ruin the game for others.

Look at this are you happy trading.? (Most of you will say no.) Why? Its too easy. There are some who enjoy trading "properly" in normal routes and do enjoy it. But you can guarantee they dont make as much.

Will you be happy bounty hunting with 2 mill credit wins? I wont.

So thats my plea to you. Pls stop asking for dumbing down and easy mode. Let the guys concentrate on content to make this great game even better. N its not about making 50 million in a month. If you want that to be your aim carry on cheesing trade, im hapoy for you. Please dont cheese up the rest of the game.

This was very long and hard to read, could you make it easier for me by dumbing it down a bit and maybe condensing it to an easily digested paragraph? All that reading is really griefing my eyes.

I find it hilarious that the only requests I've seen for "easy" weren't even mentioned in the OP.

Dominico, what do you think of the people requesting things be harder? Removing the easy button that is shield cells, reintroducing a bit of challenge while flying a python, asking for more frequent and difficult enemies to fight?

In fact, your example of people requesting "easy mode"... aren't, even.

You complain that people want repairs to be cheaper... but that has nothing to do with difficulty, merely incentives. Re-arm cost and repair costs don't make the game any harder, they just make combat not worthwhile in the larger ships. Higher cash rewards for harder targets (example: Anacondas and Pythons only give 3000 credits in warzones) doesn't make the game easier, they simply give a reason to tackle those harder targets.

There isn't exactly much in the way of challenge in the game right now, but the biggest problem is that there's no in-game reason to ever tackle those challenges since the rewards don't match the time it takes to do so.

I love doing combat, but right now combat is, if I want it to be fun, an expensive hobby and money-losing proposition, since tackling anything hard enough to be challenging practically guarantees I'll be losing money, and the preponderance of 'easy buttons' like shield cells makes it even worse, since any player I'll be fighting will have them equipped, and it's the not-fun kind of challenge to fight someone who will take 40 minutes to kill (for no reward) even if I've got perfect flying, only to have them run away because they still have 3 minutes worth of shields cells left, so I don't even get a bounty at all.

It's not about making it easier, it's about making it more fun, and you don't seem to get that, and you have failed to identify any of the problems that actually make the game too easy (which I think it is).

Summary: Even if you're conclusion is correct, your argument is garbage, try harder next time and stop asking for everything to be boring.
 
The credits earned aren't indicative of difficulty, the fact some professions need a buff doesn't mean they are easier lol, I think the tedium of exploration is the hardest thing in the game right now and BH is so safe against the worlds worst AI that you might as well throw that in the same camp.

I don't want this to be Elite 84 I do want it to be Elite 15

BUT what I really really miss is playing the game for two hrs and I'm trading my narcotics for a massive profit and its taken me every minute of those two hours to get into the destination station, Ive fought off about 4 waves of pirates and 6 wave of cops each had more than 2 ships to contend with. Ive arrived with my hull down to about 15% and no I have to manually dock perfectly through a tiny rectangle and as I go in my shields start depleting 1 bank 2 bank s 3 banks and........no Ive made it

Now to put on those military lasers

Fly back the next night and do it again

I don't want elite 84 I want Elite 15 and I want to feel Ive been in that battle rather than figuring out how many more trade rotations I need to make to get the Next ship
 
And here I actually enjoy my trade, being a trader.
Flying from port to port, selling cargo ,playing my favourite music, having a cup of coffee while traversing the longest part.
I -enjoy- the peaceful work, dodging the odd pirate (have yet to be blasted out of the sky. ...not considering Eagles with their "dumb" rockets camping inside Space-stations pirates, them I call douchebags.

Also I agree with ones like Glyphy in the post above mine that, asking for tweaks to repair-bills and similar is -not- doing the game hurting the game.
If an Anaconda captain feels he can afford engaging other Players in combat , that's ...a good thing ,no?
 
The thing is, the game isn't hard at all. It just takes a lot of time to get anywhere. It rewards dedication, not skill nor learning game mechanics. I get some people are happy with it, I would personally like to have harder content with bigger rewards. You create difficulty by improving AI encounters and making dangerous regions actually dangerous, not by artificially expanding time to do everything and clugging up interfaces as Elite: Dangerous is currently doing.
