Any feedback on chaff affecting fixed weapons too?
Do you like that idea, is it too much?

Na, just my brain working on different train of thought - posted and typed before actually registering what I read.

Speaking for turrets that would've been a decent workaround if only we could assign fire modes to different fire groups... wait can we do that? :S
Also doesn't change the fact that it will make managing fire groups more cumbersome as an imperial surely you would not want that or maybe you can get a slave to switch it for you but we fedscum need this![]()
While I feel there should definitely be a trade off between gimballed/fixed weapons, this would be fair imo..For gimbals: Gimbal tracking/forward fire (without fixed convergence assist)

What is your take on having fixed weapons being affected by chaff aswell, resulting
in no convergence for time chaff is active?
Not something I'd want to see tbh..
Although it kinda seems logical that chaff could affect convergence it also detracts from the trade off imo..
I would argue that "tracking" a target is a more sophisticated system which should be confused by chaff,
whereas convergance only requires data on distance to target, and is dependant on direct line of sight, so should not be easily disrupted..
..Maybe a bit handwavium, but good and proper imo![]()
So how does your ship check the distance if not for a laser-rangefinder,
or using the sensors.
If you pick up chaff (a cloud of metal shrapnells) that causes a lot of reflections,
like you try to use your mobilephone in a room consisting of metal will not
get a clean signal from the provider.
I think this should have an impact on fixed lasers too, since they cannot auto-rangefind
anymore.
