Please rebalance white dwarfs

White dwarfs, compared to neutron stars, are riskier while offering far less reward.

Neutron stars feel just about perfect*, overall. But there's no reason to go for a WD boost.

Please make WD exclusion zones a bit smaller relative to the jets, and/or make the jets less overwhelming on your controls so that if something goes wrong it's at least more manageable to recover.

Making the boost kick in a bit faster would also help. I find that for WDs I sometimes have to make multiple passes, very carefully due to the small area of cone extending past the exclusion zone.

[SUB] * The one caveat to neutron stars feeling perfect is that if something does go wrong and you end up in normal space inside the cone, there's basically nothing you can do to save yourself except hope your ship eventually points in the same direction as the current, or (worse yet) for both to line up with an escape vector if you got too close. I like the "oh crap, I'm in trouble now" aspect, I just wish the loss of control wasn't so absolute that there's essentially no action you can take to recover. Being able to retain some control over attitude thrusters would go a long way. [/SUB]

What about keep them risky but give them more boost? I don't know if it would be realistic (I would think that crossing any jet of highly ionized matter would fry your cells to a molecular level) but if they are riskier but give you a 350% boost instead of the 50% they actually give, then it could be worth to use them.

NAH The pucker factor of white dwarfs is the bomb.
You can't have it all your way.
Next you will want to use black holes to jump across the galaxy.
Liberate tuteme ex inferis.

Yes, the biggest problem with white dwarfs at the moment is that they're useless. Even without the risk factor, the boost you get isn't worth the hassle, so much easier to just swing around a regular star (and actually refuel).

I've called up the "Star Class" selector, deselected White Dwarf stars, and ticked "Apply filter to route".
