Hi
Been playing for a week now. The game was great first two days. I enjoyed the adrenalin rising from first launch, first landing, first FSD jump, first confrontations, first interdictions...
But now it's like replaying the 1984 version in better resolution. Even worse, as in 1984 version I needed military lasers to destroy everyone. Here, pulse lasers are enough.
Human players in general avoid confrontation and even communication. Is messaging working at all? No CMDR replied my greetings so far. This is rude! Didn't you people watch Star Trek?
NPC's are no challenge. I'm destroying "dangerous" guys within 90 seconds with two simple burst lasers.
Elite NPC's should not be called Elite. When their hull is down to 50%, they start to flee on thrusters. Instead of wanting better guns and shields to stand up in battle, I want to upgrade thrusters first so I can catch these chickens.
I found several cans of Platinum floating around and scooped them, only to realize that they are illegal, and was fined over 50.000 c before had a chance to sell of them for measly few 1000 a can on the black market. I thought salvaging platinum that was lost in deep space was a good thing, but I guess it's an equal crime as to assassinate a few peaceful traders. OK, that's the last time I scooped anything.
I don't get missions at all. I can only do simple delivery jobs, sometimes from and to the same station. (What's up with that?) I could not complete a single hunt and destroy mission, although I spent hours combing the systems the target should be in and checking every single contact. Would it be too hard if in the mission we could get more exact location of the target in space and time?
I'm sure missions will get better and more challenging as the game progresses, but I'm quite discouraged so far.
Anarchy systems are too nice places. You are just as likely to be attacked there as in any system with government. Only once I was interdicted by a nasty Anaconda that was better to run away from. Every other time it was a poor pirate with only a few 100 c. bounty, and no challenge to engage in a fight. (Even the Anaconda I mentioned earlier was a Harmless commander with only 500 c bounty and not actually worth a risk.)
I'm sure developers wanted the game to be easy enough, so new players wouldn’t be discouraged, but please tweak up number of NPC pirates, their toughness and bounties, as well as likelihood of being attacked in anarchic systems to make us old guys happier.
How do you feel about my observations and suggestions?
