Elite / Frontier Please somebody help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally after 25 years of not playing Elite, I purchased a copy of Elite Frontier. After a very good start going from Barnard to Sol, making good money, I am now stuck, it seems like a glitch but I cannot continue. The problem is when I try to take off of a space station, eveything looks fine until the bay doors open, and my ship does no go out all the way. It just sits there, and then traffic control says "exceeded time limit" and I am blown away. Something similar happens if I am at a planet, I want to take off, but the ship just sits there, it wont take off. PLEASE can somebody help me with this???????????????/

Ah, the stuck ship bug. This can happen sometimes. Try hyper spacing out of there. Sometimes this works, also switching the views about can help too.

I find that will also happen sometimes if I change the engine on the ship and forget to refuel through the inventory screen.

Yep, sounds very much like a refuelling issue to me. Make sure you've got ample supplies of the right type of fuel (hydrogen fuel for a standard engine, military fuel for a military engine), transfer some fuel to the engine (click on refuel on the Cargo Inventory page or buy an auto-refueller) and you should be in business :)

Yes Steve and gunbladelad, you could both be right about it being a fuel issue, but I did encounter this very bug once (in a fully fuelled ship) on a landing pad on New Australia in YZ Canis Minoris. Clouds of smoke but no movement from the ship on take off. Also happened in an Empire system but I cant remember which one :S

Annoying as hell as I had a schedule to keep

I'd go for the fuel issue as well. Done it many times :)

Yep. Sounds like fuel. Have you had your drive replaced before trying to take off? If so, you'll need to buy appropriate fuel and refuel the internal tank, otherwise you will simply get no thrust.

No problem at all. I'm glad we could help.

A word of advice on future engine changes. If you ever decide to change to a Military drive, make sure the base you're buying it in sells fuel for it. (Not all systems have Military fuel.)
