Please swallow your blue dreamer And place the helmet on your head

There's no way in hell it can happen while super machines can barely get 30 fps with one screen. :)
I'm getting 100/110 fps on Pimax 5k in normal setting using 5800x, STRIX 6800 xt lc and CROSSHAIR VIII FORMULA MB. I think, KNOW with top end build the full experience with VR must be possible. Especially with the latest Odyssey Optimizations. Frontier should give us a full VR graphics option now IMHO. Tech is moving onwards and upwards and next gen GPU's are rumoured to be 2.5x better than the blisteringly fast 7nm AMD TECH. They could give us the option easily.

I have a Ryzen 7 5800X + RX 6800 XT with HyperX Predator 32GB RAM, running EDO from a SSD at 1440p with maxed out settings.
I also have a 144 Hz screen which sadly is useless for EDO.

In space I can get 144 fps easily, no problem there.
Settlements on the other hand are still running between 40-50 FPS (which IMO is unacceptable with that rig).

I do not dare try EDO in VR (I have a Quest 2) until further significant improvements are made to performance and optimization.

I gotta be honest and say that I dont do settlemets. The only time I get out of my ship in Odyssey is to go into the bar and look out of the window at ships coming through the mail slot and occasionly planetside to admire the views whilst exploring. Overclocking my liquid coooled 6800xt to plus 10% speed along with a 5800x at 5GHZ is probs why I get good frame rates. I need to go to some settlements really to see the FPS there. Also using the new the Fidelity FX graphics options in Odyssey really help on the FPS. I too paly at 1440p in VR. I think with optimizations takin that bloomin VR cardbox of ones head is doable for many top end machines at least. My MB is very forgiving when over clocking ram and CPU.

:) Well yeh, you mean settlements dont render as well as when sitting at the bar in a space staion watching the ships fly through t,he mail slot? Well I never! Ooops, lol :)
No, I mean neither render as fast as 100 fps+ notoriously. So I'm genuinely asking whether this is what you're claiming.

The issue is that concourse and settlement environments represent the vast majority of the new game play EDO adds. I get over 200 fps in space sometimes but that isn't representative of the actual EDO experience.

Bottom line: I think EDO performance has been and remains entirely unacceptable and hope they continue to enhance it and would just like our feedback to be accurate so fdev don't get any false readings about this topic.

Edit: Just seen your clarification that you don't play settlements. So, just be aware that what we're saying is still true: full VR experience is a pipedream until the whole EDO experience, all of it, not just the parts you do, can perform high enough for it to even be considered. That includes even concourses right now, which I'm sure you have experienced at least once.

Something that an alien voice from many an earth moon ago, whispered into my head whilst orbiting Asteropes 1st planet, searching for Hydras to annoy with my PIMAX 5k on! ;)
Asterope? Sounds like something you'd hear closer to Saturn.

Well I get 120ps in concourse in 2560x1440x2 VR so expanding to full screen in 90fps would work IMHO. Most VR headsets are way below the resoloution of mine. I do have a high end system just about though. Odyssey rendering has gone from strength to strenghth in recent months.
