I enjoy most aspects of Elite and enjoy the feeling of freedom. I'm disabled in real life and can't go out without help so for me learning about things and places has been my way of experiencing the world. 'Space' has always fascinated me and after real-life health issues began to make it hard to contribute to the group in which I belong I decided that what I needed was a good trip somewhere.
I decided to wait the few days until 1.3 was released and then take a DB Explorer to the core to visit the Great Annihilator and Sagittarius A*.
To begin with I decided to explore my way there and scanned my way most of the way to the Trifid Nebula. I began to realise just how vast the galaxy actually was and, not wanting to permanently neglect my group-mates, I faced a decision: Either turn back to human-space or press on with my foot to the floor.
I chose the latter.
My little Diamondback, named Geoluspearwa (Yellow Sparrow in Old English), carried me across the galactic arms and in to the core. The ever-increasing density of the stars making me pause for thought frequently.
Space is beautiful.
This afternoon, I reached my first target. The Great Annihilator. There's an interesting read about it here https://www.eso.org/sci/publications/messenger/archive/no.70-dec92/messenger-no70-51-54.pdf
I will now press on to the very centre of the galaxy. I am hoping to meet a fellow wanderer upon arrival, but we will see.
For what it's worth, I don't really think of this as 'exploring' - it's travelling more than exploring - but I wanted to visit these two landmarks before I set out on another true exploration adventure to the outer portions of the galaxy later in the year.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
