Hi guys!
First, you made an awesome game so far. In my opinion, simply THE BEST among park simulators. Yes, the best in the whole world - no hype here, but a really true statement. I imagine how proud you are by noticing that. Well, my suggestion here is just to complete this ALMOST PERFECT game and, who knows, suggesting something unique, which could rise this game into gaming market history.
My suggestion is: please, give us a "Peep Mode" (or "Avatar Cam"), something like a Coaster Cam, but where we can "posses" a peep and control it like a real 1st-person experience.
Here is what I thought about it's mechanics:
1- a button in game's UI, when pressed, would spawn our personal avatar (yes, our "almost-useless-until-now" avatar) into the game world, more precisely exactly where normal peeps spawn (outside park boundaries, in that "peep spawner");
2- When spawned, our view would switch to 1st-person. You guys already have the technique on regular cam (and Coaster Cam), it would just be applied inside our avatar head;
3- Our avatar would have a small interface portraying it full body. There would be "Hunger", "Thirst", "Bathroom" and "Nausea" sliders we would have to keep track of (item 6 below), with "Cash in Pocket", a "Queue Ghost" checkbox (item 7 below) and a "Leave Peep Cam" button as well (item 8 below);
4- We would spawn with a fixed amount of cash (like $ 300), or it could be defined in some option window. As we walked past park's gate or an attraction gate, the ticket price would be deducted from our cash until we could afford to spend to more. At this point, we would just walk into an ATM and our cash would be instantly replenished;
5- Whenever we bought a souvenir (a hat, a balloon, a VIP wristband, etc), it would show on our avatar window portrait;
6- The "Hunger", "Thirst", "Bathroom" and "Nausea" sliders would have no fatal consequences (like killing us or making us vomit), but when depleted it could somehow show on the game (like making us walk slower or a bit dizzy in a "drunken-like" state). To fix the situation in question, we would have to buy a drink (thirst), food (hunger), sit on a bench or visit a medical care building (nausea), or go into a toilet (bathroom). The cost for it would also be deducted from our cash;
7- The main scope here: walking around the park inside it's paths (there could be a restriction not to wander off in forbidden areas, like unbuilt grass plains or into lakes). As we move (using WASD or arrow keys), we would use mouse to look around (head movement, just like shooter games). Anytime we enter a ride queue, we would have to go through it, respecting collision to other guests and choosing whether we use VIP queues (in case we bought the wristband in Information booths). This feature could be disabled by unchecking a box in the avatar's UI (the "Queue Ghost" checkbox) or by pressing a key, so we could just walk through other guests and quickly reach ride station. Whenever our avatar reached the boarding station, when the gate for the ride opened, we would be automatically seated on the respective seat and the rest would go like a normal Coaster Cam, until the end of the ride, when we would regain movement control. If we happen to enter a "non-rideable ride" (like a bathroom stall or a Hotel Lobby), the cam would switch to an external cinematic view of the building for the time we remained inside it;
8- Our avatar would despawn if we clicked a button on the UI ("Leave Peep Cam" button) or if we crossed that original first "spawn gate" where we initially spawned. At this point, we would return to normal game cam mode;
The advantage for us: we would not just be able to build, but to live the park experience as if we were really there. We would also be able to produce content to and download other's creations from Steam Workshop, prolonging the game replay value.
The advantage for you: ok, I'm probably going to be hated here, but... you could profit from it, by selling a "content pack", like you did with "Back to the Future", "Knight Rider" or "The Munsters". I have all the content packs you released so far and I'd promptly buy this one too. Of course, I'd rather have it for free, but I understand sometimes companies need to raise a bit of money from some game aspects to keep the wheels turning and the gears running.
The advantage for the future: if you are really into the idea, you could research ways of adapting it to VR. I don't have a VR headset (and don't intend to in the near future), but I'm sure there are players who would LOVE playing this way... and you could again profit from this new VR content pack.
Well, that's it. PLEASE, listen to this suggestion / request. This unique innovative feature surely would make Planet Coaster the BEST park simulator in the whole gaming history.
Thanks a lot in advance,
SmaugBR
