Plotting course in core sectors.....

If you are travelling near the galaxy core you may find that it's impossible to plot a course due to the amount of stars. I seemed to have come up with a solution. If you multiply the amount of jumps by your maximum jump range you should not have a problem plotting a course i.e. 15 x 32ly = 512lys. So I can plot a 512lys route in my Asp in about 3 seconds. So if you are having problems try this out, it may help (this only works with fast route plots). Stay safe Cmdrs.:)

Lucky you......Currently 800LY to go to Sag-A and I cannot plot a jump longer than 38LY. If I try, the galaxy map throws an absolute hissy-fit.

I'm also just 800ly from Sag A* and I can still plot a course upto 200ly.

Just select your target system, then sit back and let the computer do its thing.....don't move the map, or perform any other function.

It can take several minutes for the course to plot, but patience pays off.

Having a fast PC probably helps.

I just didn't bother, and did it manually, one jump at a time. Since the plotter ignores your filtering, and thus sends you through brown dwarfs, etc., I rarely use it: the only time I do so is when I'm in incredibly fast travel, and am not going to look at anything in the system before jumping.

It certainly does take time. I disabled a lot of map effects and just let it do what it needed to do. The way it freezes up the game is unreal, but I usually get a route plotted within a few minutes most of the time.

I'm just passing through the closest spiral arm, just over 10,000ly from Sagittarius and my under-specced system is indeed starting to choke plotting the route. Rather than wait though, I've discovered that, so far, plotting a < 130ly course, or 4-5 total jumps on Fastest Routing (with 35ly range) is instantaneous still. So I'm just using the galactic maps lines to keep me straight, and going in small sessions forward. If it gets worse nearer the core, I may have to give up though...

I tried the "Disable Stars in View" trick, and whilst it plotted the first course instantly, it hung on the second. I'm not surprised by this, as surely it has to plot the same path even if it's not displaying the stars at the same time? My thinking is it's probably then the multiple of your jump range that sets the result speed, but it's tricky to test.

Now 3,000ly from Sagittarius, and I'm finding if I plot a course of 987ly (give or take a little) it's completing within 1 minute every time, and I'm far under the minimum specs required. I'm using the CMDR Nutter Asp build, with some auto repairs aboard, and with a jump range of 34.73 (full) to 37.60 (max)... I can't see any obvious mathematical reason for 987 completes so fast, but it curiously does.

A bit hit and miss with me, and I'm just under 6000LY away from Sagittarius at the moment. Sometimes it will plot a course quickly for up to 200LY, more often than not, it grinds way forever on 60+LY (range is about 33LY). At the moment I'm doing it in jumps of 32LY, which I don't mind because I'm finding a lot more interesting things to scan than I usually do the closer I get to the core.
