Newcomer / Intro Plotting long journeys

Hello all, sorry, it's newbie question time again. As I'm quite capable of getting lost while walking from the bedroom to the bathroom, I'm struggling a bit with plotting routes over 100LY. I can go into the galaxy map, search for and locate the system that I want to end up in, no worries. But then, when I zoom out far enough to see where I currently am, as well as where I'm going, I lose all sense of direction. Is there a way that a vector can be overlayed to just point in the direction of the system that I'm looking for, so I can plot 100LY in that direction, and then repeat the process? Is there a knack that I'm missing? Am I just destined to never be a great navigator, rather doomed to flying around in circles thinking "mmmm, that one looks familiar, I'm sure I've seen that before..."

Ta,

Here is a community based route planner that spans the entire galaxy.

What I do is plan the entire route in this, then pick out 'waypoints' from the route it generates every 50-60ly or so, and then use those with the in game route planner. It's case sensitive so make sure you're capitalizing when searching for stars.

Enjoy!

Plotting over 100ly in game can be done but their is bug when attempting to do it Just say from experience as reported the bugs. You will get lost. Rememebr to note last populated system b4 venturing. Just in case you want a route back
