Plotting Route to Colonia

Hi all,

What is the best way to plot a route directly towards a far off destination?

I have been selecting the destination, then moving back to my current location, lining up the destination marker with my current location marker on the screen so that it's right in front of me, then use the W key to translate forwards.

However, I'm having the distinct impression that I am not translating exactly forward toward my destination, but horizontally along the galactic plane?

Is there a way to make sure I am moving through the galaxy directly towards my target?

I use a bookmark and do the same thing lining up from my current location. Zoom out a bit so you move faster and press W until you get close to 1000Ly.

Another thing you can do is note the vertical coordinates of your destination, and as you move forward, also move up or down and bit to get a diagonal course toward the target.

You don't have to be precise. As long as you're getting closer to the destination it's all good. Plotting a more precise course might only save you a jump or two over 10,000Ly.

That's basically what I did. Line up where you are to your destination, zoom out of the map and find around where 1,000 LY is, zoom in and find a star. Then you might want to zoom out again and take a far away look laterally to see if your vertical direction is good. I think Colonia is below most populated areas of the bubble.

Also you can try just going to the outposts that are on the way instead of directly going to Colonia. Here was my route of stars:

I wrote down every star I jumped to. My range was around 35 LY and I average about 29-30 jumps for every 1,000 LY or so.

If you don't want to do the neutron route, ed discovery has a long range route planner. I personally set it for a 999LY jump range, and it gives me a list of waypoints to give the in game plotter.
