Discussion PLZ FDev, be considered on how you gonna block cheats in the future, you may be blocking the dozens of us that use memory hook for Simulation Rigs.

this is a copy from a /r/Elitedangerus post i made, i puttin it here so Fdev could give some official opinion on memory read for telemetry.

In another topic some people argue that ED does not give telemetry of the ship.
This is correct in the way that we dont have a proper API other than the journals.

But the Simulator community is using "unorthodox" ways to get the telemetry needed to allow motions rigs to work

This video is a simple example of it, its a community drived plugin/app that access the memory of the game to extract in real time information from the ship like Translation (Surge/(Sway/Heave) and Rotational (Roll/Pitch/Yaw)

This method is not perfect because ED updates can change where the information is and the plugin need to be updated accordingly.

This is the same method used by some cheats to give access to the variables that control your gear and other stats by overwriting the normal values.

And yesterday i just remember that my 1500€ investment that im about to make in motion platform just for ED may go to wast if FDev just closes the tap for memory hooks.

In conclusion, we the players need super simple API that just gives ship telemetry if you are gonna deal with the cheaters in a way that prevents the reading of this information from the game memory.

I know we are a niche group of players, but we mean no harm wen tapping into the game memory, we just want to have the best experience possible while playing ED, i understand that creating the API could take time, but if you could spare a couple devs for a week im sure you could do it :)
