Point defence and stations (bug?)

So, I was in process of docking at Altair Solo Orbiter when another commander in Asp began firing seeker missiles at me inside the station, I popped a shield cell and chaff - I DID NOT DISCHARGE MY WEAPONS.

The station began firing on him before he proceeded to dock with the station on pad he was hovering on - next thing I notice the station is targeting me. No chance of escape. I die with full cargo hold.

Any similiar experiences?

Do you have point-defence turrets? In another thread someone mentioned that he had a missile fired at him inside a station and the PDT got him killed.

Yes, I have 1 point defense turret on my vessel.

Sadly, that PDT got you killed... As it's firing some of the rounds will inevitably miss, impacts the station, turning the station hostile against you (as it counts as your weapon fire). This is one of the reasons I'm not planning to put PDT on any of my ships (until there's a solution).

I bet the turret managed to ping the station with a stray shot.

It doesn't even need to. Just firing at the missile is enough to anger the station.

I am pretty sure this is going to get fixed PDQ - it seems like such a useful tool for griefing.

You could always turn them off before making a docking approach.

Not as a long-term solution, I mean - this needs to be fixed by Frontier - but as a stopgap.

Hmm...Say without the Point Defence Turret I wonder if the Chaff inside the station would have also got the ship targeted.

Doubt it.....it's been that way since Beta days. The little plasma bolts make teh station angry...

All you need is a sidewinder, a missile rack, and scan a nice big ship in the station, take a shot at it with a missile and the station does the rest....sucks....

Seems to me this is another "landing gear down - disable the automatic systems thing" (PDT, chaff, boosters, turrets). Hell, turn off the guns too.. we could use lowering landing gear as a "look, I'm peaceful" indictor.. LOL.

I wouldn't complain if lowering the landing gear disabled all weapon systems, in fact. Why would you -ever- want to use the two simultaneously? It already disables boost.

I would put in a ticket if you get killed in this way; it's clearly an exploit and the more reports of it they get the faster it will get addressed; especially now that they've purged the ticket queue and are back to processing them reasonably. One hopes.

Said it before and I'll say it again. There should be a warning issued before turning hostile, like they did in the X series.

Ticket closed with this as only response.
Disgracefully ridiculous response!
Open the ticket again, and explain as you would to a 4 years old what the problem is.

Shees, you're reporting a serious game mechanic flaw that allows easy griefing and those dorks just think you want some credits!
