Police lights

This might sound silly to some, but I really do think it would be cool if the space cops would flash lights when going into action.

Just like in real life, it would make sense from a logistical point of view, warning civilians to clear the path from a possible fugitive. It would also look pretty sweet.

I also don't imagine it would be too fiddly to implement? Admittedly, I ain't a coder.

Thoughts? Is this idiotic?

I really like this idea.
It would also help if you engage on a wanted ship and the security vessels fly nearby to not accidently shoot them; like you see flashing colors / reflections in you canopy before they enter your view.
Yes, that's a cool idea, thumbs up :)

I was going to say, but we don't have rear view mirrors, but I get your point. As a warning to the traffic, not to the criminal, he's toast.

It would be nice if the authority ships would recognize a bounty hunter and assist him in this and other ways, instead of often becoming an obstacle in the chase. I had wondered long ago if bounty hunting would be something you would have to file for, a permit basically, that would give you some authority and also keep you from doing just anything, otherwise it would get revoked. Like a career path you could follow down. Right now, anyone can be anything and switch over easily, if they have the cash to pay off the officials.

I thought about police lights for a while. I think typical blues an twos style lights probably aren't appropriate but some kind of lighting scheme that differentiates them for civilian ships would be nice.

I'd also like the Lakon Type 9 to have and air-horn for stations and the docking portal...

its a good idea, we discussed it to death about 2 years ago and it didn't make it in so i wouldn't hold your breath, unless your canopy breaks that is ;)

Cool. Thanks for the positive reception guys.

Oh well. Maybe in a couple of years when they finally have time to spare for little details?

I don't really have an opinion as to whether it should be there or not but I do wonder if it would be at all useful in the game. Not sure you would be able to see the lights all that well unless you were really close the SA vessels and that is likely to be rare.

If FD implement a system where the cops have planetary interceptors (when the planet landing stuff comes out) then it might make more sense as they will be much closer to you.

Would be nice as also Police decals and paint jobs, on their ships. While realistically, in game you would only see this type of minor effect if you were close enough etc, and therefore is way low on a lets do it scale, but I would like to think as the game settles into its stride later on little things like this will appear.

While it would be nice if they indicated something, I would like to point out that with the distances in this game, lights on the ship itself would be very very pointless and impossible to see. Maybe an alarm light in ship that flashes instead?
