Police shooting on clean targets

Between the odd cargo run in my L6, i like to take my Cobra down to the local Nav point and punish the wanted.

Very much enjoying it as a way of putting some action in the game.

I am friendly with the Alliance and Allied with most of the local (alliance) factions.

I run around smacking wanted guys.

Pretty much every time (about 30 mins in) the local cops go from green to red and start shooting at me ??

I have ONLY attacked wanted enemies. I have NOT (I repeat NOT) clipped an innocent (I have ZERO bounty/fines or anything). I jump out. Jump back in and they love me again.

I assume this is a bug ? or do the cops attack people who kill WANTED folks of the same faction as them ??

"or do the cops attack people who kill WANTED folks of the same faction as them ??" Yes. Move to an anarchy system or just reset the instance by leaving for a sec.

I got the same, but only in current system, it doesn't happend before. Simply jump out and in and all will be green. It seems pretty random when they attack, no connection between target factions and authority vessels.

But, in same place other crazy stuff is happening. Police starting to shoot to anyone, NPC's became wanted, everyone is shooting to everyone, all is red, and NPC goes crazy and self destruct themselves on asteroids.

Anarchy is no fun as everyone needs a KWS scan. At a local Nav. I can find the wanted...open up on em....and then KWS while I melt em :)

Thx for quick replies though. I have ticketed and will do the jump in jump out dance.

If a faction in a system gains enough control it might try to fight the other factions for good and assume total control ( cartels and mobs might be an exception given their main bases are never in major faction areas but they are spread all over and concentrated mainly on anarchies, i.e. Crimson Mob, Golden Mafia, etc )

Seen this happen in LP 888 62. The big boys had 62% against 19%, 11% and 7% and 1% respectively. The system has a lot of extraction sites which are rich grounds for combat. In all of them the Sec Services were fighting the opposing factions.

Main allegiance on my part was with the main faction so it was easy pickings.

After a week the control is down to 59% and everything back to normal.

If you get enough reputation with the ruling faction to become an "ally" you can shoot Wanted ships of that same factions without the cops turning on you.
It's silly that it's what's required to stop the cops from shooting a clean commander, but hopefully that will be adressed.

I'm allied with the Empire and still the cops get all yeehaar on me, it seems pretty random.. if they are in a lesser ship 4 pips to shields and 'ooops' problem sorted :)

The cops are not really fair and will shoot at you if you provoke their faction.
It's straight up police brutality and is not acceptable, especially in the Alliance.

It's not random, if they're in the same faction as the wanted ship youre shooting at, theyre gonna turn on you, and not just the police, every ship of the same faction is gonna turn red. It's bugged and hopefully fixed soon.
