Hi ,

i just want to give a suggestion :

* to give more immersive feeling
* to give freedom feeling and pleasure
* to give a chronologic way for the evenements
* to give a "scenario made by himself " (every players count ! )
* to give strategic possibilities and opportunities
* to give incredible feelings of power for the luckyest among us

===> it would be GREAT to have a "politic system" , by exemple some corporation or federation on planets , in solars systems , sectors , etc.
players could ****VOTE**** for their leader every month , to vote for a war or colonization , or trade with Aliens ... (Will it give extraterrestrial kinds of creatures ?? ) , to give Incomes Taxes (not only commerce taxes) so you have to choose what your taxes have to finance ( research , facilities , defense , CITY improvements , treaty , pact etc.) .

WHAT ABOUT ? i don't want just a travel and shoot game !
I WANT A "REALISTIC" COMPLEX AND RICH UNIVERSE !

I WANT TO HAVE A GREAT CAREER in this "magic life" !

An interesting idea, however the player votes alone wouldn't even be a drop in the ocean compared to the number of people populating a planet or station etc. Unless a player had a 'home' on such a place, what right would they have to vote?

Agreed, players vote are not significative.
Politics events in Elite will be very interesting, to see how will evolve the universe ... anticipate and perhaps profit from a situation

You might be interested in background simulation proposal, which goes into detail on Frontier's current thinking. I think their goals are similar to yours, but they're looking at different ways to implement it. NPC elections will exist in democratic systems, but they seem more focused on giving players a career through actions like trading (affects the local economy), combat (affects local security) and so on.

I'm sure they're still open to good ideas though. Tax is an interesting one - I would love the ability to donate money to an entity for use putting bounties on criminals. If Frontier implemented that, I could see myself sinking a lot of money into it when I got rich later on in the game.
