Hi everybody, title says it all. Best as in makes the most money. If you vote in the poll, please leave a comment with your ship and weapon loadout. Including your Cr made per hour and PP affiliation/rank would be nice as well.
Be sure to post your favorite (most fun) ship for RES hunting in the thread.
I have been conducting tests to try to determine which ship currently makes the most money in HazRes sites. In my mind, only two ships are candidates for the elusive "best bounty hunting ship" title.
The Python and Anaconda. I've also included the FDL, FAS, and Gunship in the poll. Those are the only other ships that can really compete with the python and conda in pve IMHO.
The Python is fast, but the Anaconda does more DPS. The Anaconda has stronger shields and more banks, but the Python is smaller and more agile, making it harder to hit.
The anaconda is the sure winner on paper, with an extra huge and 2 extra small hardpoints, a class 8 PP + distributor (1+ compared to python), and much stronger shields/SCB. However, the max boost speed is an important advantage of the python, because a considerable amount of time in RES sites is spent flying towards targets and flying towards/away from the center of the RES. The python's maneuverability also lets it avoid asteroids easily, whereas the anaconda will inevitably hit a rock or two per trip.
Overall, even though the conda has much stronger shields and more banks, the python can spend longer amounts time in an RES at once. (Usually I average around 60 minutes/trip in a conda, around 90 in a python). A lot of NPC ships will never manage to even lay their guns on the python before they explode. Like most ships, the python relies on holding your fire until you are directly behind the target. Engaging a target head-on with your python is typically ill-advised. The python can stay on target's tails easily, which allows the python to avoid immense amounts of damage.
All things considered, the anaconda seems slightly better as long as you get good spawns. The extra dps makes up for the shorter staying time and slow boost speed.
I have rank 2 PP with Zachary Hudson (50% bonus twice makes a total of 225%).
I make ~10 million an hour with the Conda on average, the most I ever made in an hour was 14 million. In the python I was getting ~8 million an hour on average. The python was king of the 1.3 RES, but it seems the Conda is the new kid on the block in 1.4, with the addition of HazRes.
My anaconda loadout: 3 large gimballed pulses, 1 large gimballed beam, 2 medium gimballed multi-cannons, and 2 small turretted multi-cannons.
python loadout: 2 large gimballed pulses, 1 large gimballed beam, 2 medium gimballed multi-cannons
Explanation of loadouts: multi-cannons are OP, pulse lasers are OP. The point of mixing beam lasers with the pulse is that you do more DPS, and you still have high DPE (damage per energy), and the power draw on your capacitor is not too fast. Never fire unless you have full pips to weapons.
Testing: I always had multi-cannons in medium/small slots. For the large/huge slots, I tested all fixed pulse, all fixed beam, all gimbaled pulse, all gimballed beam, gimballed beam + gimballed cannon, gimballed beam + PA, gimballed pulse + PA, and fixed beam + PA.
TL;DR I think the anaconda is the best bounty hunting ship in the game, what do you think?
