During the beta I asked in a poll if people were looking forward to playing Powerplay. Now after the first week of Powerplay I would love to know how everybody feels about Powerplay. Do note: this is not a poll about 1.3.X but only about the 'Powerplay part' of the update (with the struggle between the powers). The poll only runs for 4 days, so get your votes in.

Please consider the following:
- As said: this poll is only for the 'Powerplay part' of 1.3 not about the new AI/ docking computer etc.
- After voting, feel free to comment in this thread about your favorite feature, or the thing you would like to change the most.
- Please keep your answers short and concise so FD can easily scan this topic. If you have a lot to say, please use the spoiler tags.
- Let's try to keep the discussion out of this topic. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and we have enough discussion threads already.

Question: Do you like Powerplay (as it currently is)?

Preferred commenting style:
Joined a power: Yes/ No
Voted: Like/ Dislike/ Indifferent:
Most looking forward to/ disliking:

Not joined, not wanting to play. Too much like Civilisation In Space for me - if I want to play Civ, I have Civ to play. This is not what Elite is supposed to be about.

No I have not joined. Nor will I. Tried it in Beta and looks too much like a grind/repetitive task orientated. I am indifferent to it. "Spoiler Tag" Much better if FD had spent their time improving player interaction parts of the game. Warehouses/Station Offices/Asset totals for ALL your ships and not just the one you are flying in!

I voted "liked it" but they really need to fix the merit allocations. Actions such as taking down another player should earn you merits, as should taking down an enemy NPC in one of your systems. Merits needs to be scaled in the combat zone-alikes depending on the class of enemy.

If they would add power-specific missions it would jump from "like" to "love". Come on FD, show us what the mission overhaul was for!

This! +1
I have joined, but not really enjoyed thus far.

I like the foundation, but please make sth to stop the goon sabotage rubbish and add some interesting missions in. Until then I am indifferent about PP.

I really appreciate the "Civilization" attempt, though. This is exactly what Elite is about for me. A living world I can be a part of.

I joined...found I was really just interested in doing what I was doing before which is following profit around Empire space. So, I left the power b/c I didn't want more enemies than I already have, hampering my movements.

What I have noticed is that powers are having a real effect on trading. Depending on who is running a system affect prices and what is legal. Creates situations of massive profit...just need to avoid the crossfire :D

Did not join. Probably never will. It's hard to contribute while being >1k ly from the nearest star port. And being hunted be enemies of my power when I peacefully cruise through space is quite opposite to what I call "fun".

That being said, PP is a good update... just not for me (and that's a good thing!)

not joined and don't intend to as the powers as currently are, they just don't appeal

hopefully they'll enable a system to be grown into a power (as was hinted to, but i haven't seen this to be so)

as a concept it needs refining

Not joined yet but looks ok from the outside so will give it a try, I have also obviously read a lot of views from people and sounds like it needs some work still....time will tell.

The way I see it I can carry on playing as I am or join a power, so the key points here are; you have a choice whether you play or not and there is this extra layer of game play available pending on that choice.

Voted for "played PP, indifferent".

First time I've been disappointed in ED - I like the basic idea of pledging / thwarting a power that is subtly different to the major/minor factions so that the galaxy feels more like a 'real world', unfortunately it feels like a mini-game that is almost unrelated to everything else. I don't quite understand the thinking behind adding another mechanic into the game (the various propoganda delivery missions, etc) rather than integrating with the existing features (trading, bulletin board missions, assassination, etc).

I've joined a power but doubt I will bother to advance it any further: having to ferry propoganda documents or travelling several hundred Ly to fight is frankly just not fun.

Shame it applies those effects to everyone, even if they are not interested in powerplay :(

IDK, I actually like that a lot...lets bottom feeders like me reap the benefits of the machinations of opposing ego maniacs. I'll tell ya, the slave trade has never been better ;)

Well yeah I agree that the "changing" stuff is good and the sort of thing we were promised so that is good.... until thangs change and your trade route dries up :)

I did join a power, I did like the variety but the process is a bit cumbersome kinda like parallel parking a school bus rather than a car. I can see where they wanted to go with it and certainly is a nice addition but it comes off being too clunky in its mechanics and it isn't very intuitive. Also as others have pointed out it has created two types of players in the game. Those that do and those that don't so in that sense it has been very divisive all while being and feeling grindy. That said I do believe more people are taking to Open play now that they feel like they have a "support network" to do so and that in itself is a good thing.

Voted didn't join and don't want to, having 9/10th of occupied space as being hostile territory is lame. I like to roam and don't see the appeal of being hounded by npc's and players based only on who's belief system I agree with. It's sad that there are also those that are using PP as an excuse to attack anyone not aligned with their "gang" even those that are not pledged. PP is one hot mess that simply isn't how I want to play and if said players that are using it as a "RP" reason to kill anyone not wearing their colors get too annoying I will move to solo or group reluctantly as that is simply not a game I will enjoy.

Pretty sure the reason it's an "extra disconnected layer" is because this is FD looking at designing expansion packs. Every pack will be optional, so has to have some level of disconnect to allow people without the expansion to still play. Sure, this is free, and marketed as an update, but it's their first expansion pack essentially.

I like power play. Just needs merit balance

I've not joined a Power yet, I'm waiting for bugs/systems to be ironed out and to see the complete roster(up to 20).
EDIT:Rooting for Arissa, though.
