(Poll closed, I think we have enough Data Points to get the glimpse at things that I've been looking for; thanks for everyone that provided usable Data)

---------

Seeing the "How to make Credits/What's a reasonable amount of Cr/hr " question being actively discussed again, I got an idea...

I don't want to answer the Question "what's too much" or "what's too little".

Instead, I'll just post my own CMDR's Data and simply ask others to chime in to build a small "big picture".
(check right Panel Statistics and divide your Total Assets by Hours Played)

Background of my CMDR :
Premium Beta Backer, started playing 07/2014

My CMDR's average income/hr over the entire Career : 585.767Cr

===== Preliminary Analysis =====

Note : no Statistics, just a Common-Sense view onto the Big Picture plain as presented by the participants

- surprisingly few "income-heavy" Careers
- the big mass of Careers revolves very roughly around ~500k to 1.3M/hr income
- most Careers appear to focus on "Blaze your own Trail" with Credits merely coming along or being seen as only a Utility (not primary emphasis)

===== Additional Details =====

- the approximate Median of Career-wide Income per hour sits a little below 1M Cr/hr (this is not an accurate nor precise figure - and doesn't have to be. The rough area it settled in is sufficient)

- long-running/old CMDRs tend to have a lower income/hr over their Career, likely indicating the generally increased Income Opportunities that came later in the Game and lower income at the start of the Game; as expected

- Most notably, even the largest figures given are in regions that are still attainable (at least temporarily) by most CMDRs, IF their focus was to go for big Income in their local area

When I compare even the extremes of the income/hr, I basically can easily see myself in both spots :
- my CMDR is located in the Colonia area
- Local Area VIP Passengers or VIP Transports pay very well there

So whenever I go for high-income, I'll drive those VIP Passengers around, my Orca with 6 Cabins affords anywhere between 4-8M per trip to Jaques or the usual ~35LY distant Transport dropoff. 10-15 Minutes.
Doing these, I can get some ~20M Cr/hr without any big hassle. That meets or exceeds even the higest figures given and technically I could run these activities ad infinitum as a reliable and fairly constant income basis.

Alternatively, I like to hunt Volcanism. An activity that easily takes several hours, while paying basically nothing.
That's the area where my own income can easily drop to the lowest figures submitted (or lower).

IMHO that's one of the more surprising lessons learned. All income brackets naturally exist, but none were found unachievable; both on the high was well as on the low side of things.

Final Disclaimer :
This little poll was never intended to generate highly accurate or precise Statistics. It was only meant to show the general spectrum of things and allow anyone to see how it very roughly looks :)

867,431 cr/hr average.

Which I think is reasonable especially considering the amount of time spent doing non-credit making activities such as engineering.

Bountyhunting i make 5m per 30/45mins depending on the spawn.

the only thing holding me back making more is the amount of ship that spawn. Most of the time im waiting for them, or need to fly 12km cause they are on the edge of my scanner.
would like to see more bigger wings and more bigger ships.. pirate corvettes and cutters.

Alpha Backer.

Since my last reset during the Gamma, I've averaged about one million an hour.

Keep in mind that a lot of my time is spent on activities I enjoy, but are not exactly what I'd call profitable:

  • I spent roughly two months simply trundling across planetary surfaces in my SRV when Horizons went live, gathering planetary material data before Frontier decided to move that function to the detailed surface scanner.
  • Several months, accumulated, Buckyball racing, an activity where I set aside X amount of credits to lose to rebuys.
  • Most of my time in the game has been spent on Background Simulation manipulation, another activity where I used to set aside X amount of credits to lose due to spending more on donations to the freedom fighters I'm supporting. These days, though, BGS work is profitable.
  • A not insignificant time simply flying my space ship for the sake of flying my space ship.
  • I'm pretty sure I spent at least 1% of my time designing and redesigning how Inga Stevenson looks in the game. ;)

These days, I feel like I can... sneeze, and an NPC will pop out of the woodwork and offer me a million credits doing so.

Assets : 1,648,943,242 CR
Time : 11w 4d 1h 58m

which, if I've done the sums right, equates to around 1946 hours and around 847,350 CR per hour. That's a lot more than I expected but it will have been bumped up quite considerably by Community Goals (CGs), in particular the one that paid around one hundred million credits.

"Yes, Operation "Make 'em talk" is running."
"Yes, there are already the first confessions."
"NO, surely there will be more of them, bragging about their tax evasion, within the next few days.":D:D

The math is lacking, you would also need to add the claim cost to total assest before dividing it ;)

I then get 1.2 mil per hour, more then I would have expected and I got no clue how I did that. I do so much low paying stuff ^^

Not at the PC but lets try these figures from the top of my head...

Approx. 840 hours in game
Approx. 30,000,000
Average hourly rate of: 35,714

Am I happy with the credits I have, yes. Do I think I should have more given what I've done, no. Am I bothered... not in the slightest as all I seem to read in threads concerning credits is how unhappy the mega rich seem to be. I also note the frustration and greed in the posts of those trying to be a billionaire and think myself lucky to not need for anything in game.

OP, I'm not sure that Total Assets is reflective of total income. I believe that is the total value of all of your current ships and modules.

You need to add up all of your income from each source, which won't include CR from missions/CGs. I have a spreadsheet I made that I can review later, but I had to look at current asset value, cash balance, and expeneses to to work out the total income from missions/CGs.

I believe that is the total value of all of your current ships and modules.
Ships, modules and cash.

Doesn't include cash earned but spent on running costs, rebuys, ship transfers, etc. ... on the other hand, those costs are part of earning the money, so should be included. Net is much easier to calculate than gross...

Yes, there are many factors to consider. There is of course claims, then also the fact that you total assets doesn't take into account you can just sell your modules manually.

Roughly speaking, then, my CR/hour would be about 550,000 - which is not too bad. I don't spend most of my time actively earning credits, more enjoying my ships.

I would estimate mine is about 3 million per hour average over 300 hours, without exploits such as board switching or Rhea runs

Its not about what you can earn now, but total assets divided by total played hours.

I started a second account (now my main) 1.5 years ago. I did the Alien Ruins Mission, which was a major bump (200 mill in 8 (greatly enjoyable) hours).
I was lucky, because i made Rhea (for RP reasons (FED alignment) and my goal to do passengers) my home many months before it became a thing (but left for new ground before payouts went through the roof).

I have 300h logged and 580 mill total in assets, which gives 2 million Cr/h.
Without the Alien Ruins mission it would be around 1.3 million Cr/h.

My first Cmdr from premium beta has earned 100 million Cr in 200h, hence 500k Cr/h on average.

Since release, an average of ~350k/hr over 13 weeks.

Since my wipe in january it's harder to say as the total play time is account-wide, not tied to current character, but you can safely assume it's more than 5 times that as so much of my time in previous years was spent exploring (which used to have really low payouts) and pirating before the huge changes to NPC cargo Frontier made in 2016. I try my best not to make money too fast though.

<gets out calculator>

very close to around 700k- 1mil an hr averaged over the life of the game... but bare in mind, despite what some say about those who "had it easy on the money at the start" that is total , and money earning is much much MUCH faster now.

I reckon i earn about 4-5 mil an hr now on average, and it really does not matter the ship you are in once you get to the asp/vulture level (apart from bulk trading of course)

this is with me refusing to do anything that i may consider loop holey / gamey / exploity where i can help it.
