For the lulz

The fact you've bought a DK2 or are in this thread suggests you will probably get a consumer VR kit at some point so I didn't put down - never!

Personally, I would rather stick with DK2 as long as possible but I'm curious for your thoughts.

Thanks! :)

Sold my (well used) DK2 on ebay for £350 - more than I paid for it! Obviously after fees, I got a little less, but still a great price. It was an easy decision for me - I love VR and want to stay on current gen gear if I can. Had the DK1 previously, which I also sold for more than it cost, even after fees that time.

I need another option. I have the DK and very much want the CV, but have to get a new rig to drive it first. So won't be getting it until I have saved up a considerable amount of money :(

I got the warning that my computer is underpowered for VR when I use Oculus Home. I'm not too put off by that fact. The VIVE will soon be in the grubby hands of the venerable users of this forum. I might as well wait to hear their opinion of it before I make my choice. But as soon as I've decided, I will purchase. The waiting time will be quite long and I'm not too bothered about feeding my headset less than perfect graphics. It is still bound to be better than what I'm getting with my DK2.

I'll just use my headset with a slightly below par computer for a while. And when I eventually upgrade, it will be with a new motherboard, CPU, and case.

Yeah I toyed with selling the DK2, maybe 4 or 5 months ago, but since (re)discovering Elite I'm so glad I hung onto it.

I don't think I'll sell it now. It smells too much of ... me ...

I have both, I already own a DK2. Availability woes will mean if I decide to sell one or the other (which for me is starting to feel like Oculus because it's more closed off that SteamVR), I won't have a problem selling it on eBay.

I've also read that DK2 will only be supported until the end of this year in any sense with the consumer Oculus runtime, so despite loving my DK2 I don't feel any reason to hold onto it for much longer, so that'll be going on eBay before it's value drops to nothing.

I haven't owned a DK2 but just bit the bullet and ordered a Vive :D. My choice was made for me by the fact I do not have 3 spare usb3's for the CV1 and no room in my case for a card. I have to say I was probably leaning that way anyways though as I like the extra features of the Vive (room tracking, motion controllers, camera etc.) and I would rather give my money to Valve compared with Facebook.

I now officially cannot wait though!!

Just bought a 2nd hand DK2 after messing about with an LG G3 + Homido vr headset + Moonlight streaming + Tridef 3D.

Currently waiting to see what happens to Oculus with their touch controllers & to see if they mess up the release just as badly as they have done so far with the CV1.

WIll decide what one to go for in 6-9 months time, as I don't see Oculus allowing the DK2 to work with Home when you can finally buy a CV1 without a pre-order backlog.

Then it'll be ' sorry, your DK2 is too old. Buy a CV1 '

Also interested to see what Sony do with their PSVR because if they do decide to release it for the PC too then it'll undercut both the Vive & Rift on price.

And it could appeal to more people due to it running at a slighly lower refresh rate, meaning lower PC requirements.

Possible... but by then, the competition has most likely already started to eat them alive anyhow. They might have kicked off the VR trend, but they - evidently - know jack sh*t about keping their customers happy.

Why? Because both CV1 and VIVE don't ship in my country, so the DK2 is still the best VR HMD i can get.....

Yeah, so far it seems like a lesson in 'how to not do a launch properly'.

HTC & Vavle must be like giggling school kids atm :)

The only way Oculus might save some face is to offer a large discount on Touch to CV1 pre-orders / backers.

Yea, not sure they still can, though... I'm not totally sure they even have full control over the pricing, either... but, competing with established hardware companies like HTC and Razer like that, you don't.
